OLITHA SHERMAN WISEMAN

Olitha Sherman Wiseman, 91, of Tunkhannock, PA passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Greenley Personal Care Home, Tunkhannock, PA. Born in Akron, OH, she was the daughter of the late Clark and Helen [Brooks] Sherman. Her husband of 60 years Frederick E. Wiseman predeceased her in 2002.

She graduated from the Mansfield State Teacher’s College and later became a substitute for the New Milford Consolidated School and taught full time until her retirement in 1979 from the Calvin Coolidge Elementary School, Binghamton, NY after 25 years.

The family would like thank the staff at Greenley's Personal Care Home for their love and compassion during the past 4 years.

Survivors include son, Robert Wiseman of Susquehanna, PA; daughter, Barbara Wiseman-Cunningham of Tunkhannock, PA; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Unadine Wiseman of Montrose, PA; brother-in-law, Glenn Whitney of Great Bend, PA.

Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a brother, Earl Sherman and a sister, Florence Young.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 at New Milford United Methodist Church, New Milford, PA 18834.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Greenley's Personal Care Home, 518 Thurston Hollaw Road, Tunkhannock, PA 18657

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose, PA 18801.

RENA ROOD

Rena Rood, 90, of Susquehanna, passed away at Barnes Kasson Skilled Nursing Facility on Tuesday, September 27, 2011.

She is predeceased by her husband, Howard Rood. Rena is survived by her loving children, one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Ronald Messenger, Loveland, CO; three sons and daughter-in-laws, James and Sandra Rood, Bourbonnais, IL, Jack and Judy Rood, Susquehanna, PA, Raymond and Margaret Rood, Cary, NC; nine grandchildren, Pamela Stoner, Karen Boguslawski, Dawn Knapper, Kari Jemar, Alan Rood, Jeffrey Rood, Jill, Scott, and Kaitlyn Rood; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.

Rena was a 1939 graduate of Laurel Hill Academy. She retired from Barnes Kasson Skilled Nursing Facility in 1982. She also spent time volunteering at the Nursing Facility. Rena was a lifelong member of St. John The Evangelist Church.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, PA, and at the St. John’s Church in Susquehanna, PA, where a Mass of Christian Burial was offered by Rev. David Cramer.

Burial was held in the St. John’s Cemetery in Susquehanna, PA.

Heartfelt thanks go out to the entire staff of Barnes Kasson Skilled Nursing Facility for the care and comfort that was provided to Rena.
