Celebrate Fall At Area Church Festival

Everyone is invited to celebrate the changing of the season by participating in the Fall Church Festival at First United Methodist Church New Milford on September 17. The day long event includes activities, entertainment and fun for the whole family.

Is your family in need of warm coats or school clothes? Come for our free clothing giveaway. Are you looking for a bargain or a special treat? Come check out our Craft, Rummage and Bake Sale. Do your children enjoy making crafts or getting a special decorations painted on their face? Come enjoy free hands-on activities for kids.

The festival kicks off at 9:00 a.m. and runs until 2:00 p.m. at the church on Pratt Street in New Milford. There will also be musical entertainment, popcorn and other refreshments.

Everything wraps up with an auction at 2:00 featuring professional auctioneers looking for bids on very special items.

Homecoming Planned For Brooklyn Church

The Worship Committee of the First Universalist Church of Brooklyn has set plans for “Homecoming” on Sunday, September 11. At 10:00 a.m., the worship service will commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and close with a candlelight service remembering the victims and their families. After the service, a pot-luck luncheon will be held in the social hall. Bring a favorite dish!

For the fall season, Church School will begin at 10:10 a.m. and the Adult Education Class will begin at 9:15 a.m.

On Saturday, September 24 at 4:30 p.m. the annual tender roast beef supper and bazaar, with all the trimmings, will be held in the social hall. Special music by local musicians will entertain the public in the sanctuary as they wait to be seated. Take-outs will begin at 4:00 p.m.

The fellowship extends a warm invitation to all, and to new families in the area.
