HARRIETT J. GARDNER

Harriett Jean (Lynn) Gardner, 87, of Starrucca, PA, passed away peacefully at the Barnes Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna, PA, on Monday, November 23, 2009. Harriett was born October 7, 1922 in Danville, PA.

Harriett was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Gardner 17 years ago who was a long time resident of Starrucca, PA; three brothers Harold Lynn, Harry Lynn, and Bobbie Lynn; three sisters Dorothy Barnhart, Gladys Lynn, and Geraldine Lynn all of the Danville area.

Harriett was survived by her one daughter Carol Gardner of Starrucca, PA; two sons Kevin Gardner of Starrucca, PA, and Kenny (Martha) Gardner of Orlando FL; three grandchildren, Emily and Wayne Gardner of Orlando, FL, and Megan (Daniel) Iturburu of Mount Pocono, PA; three great grandchildren Tristen, Jeren, and Desmond Iturburu of Mount Pocono, PA; one sister Joyce Seebold of Danville, PA; and special friends Tracy Fisher and daughter Haley of Starrucca, PA, and Bill Davis of Palmerton, PA.

Harriett’s children believe her to be the oldest continuous resident of Starrucca, PA, having moved to town in 1952. She enjoyed her family dogs Shadow and Duke, wild birds, and many other woodland creatures that often visited her backyard. She liked flowers of all kinds especially the springtime lilacs. Harriett’s hobbies included needlepoint, word puzzles, picture puzzles, and games.

A funeral service was held Friday, November 27, 2009, at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA 18847, with Rev. Kevin Spitzer officiating.

Burial was held in the Starrucca cemetery, Starrucca, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barnes Kasson Hospital in memory of Harriett.
