She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Ernest Benjamin, Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Ernest (Ben) and Margo Benjamin; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Wayne Basa, Jan and Jim Kasten, John and Alice Cooper; siblings, Lois Merrell, Paula Maue, and Charles Smith; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth had a wonderful spirit, as evidenced by the many people who called and sent cards and told us stories of how much she meant to them. Her family was the most important thing in the world to her. She was a spiritual person and was an inspiration to all who knew her.

The family would like to thank Wilson Hospital CCU, North Tower 3, South Tower 3, the staff of nursing 1 at Elizabeth Church Manor, and a very special niece, Michele Lyman.

A funeral service was held Monday, May 11, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church, Hallstead, PA with the Reverend Nancy Cubitt officiating. Interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the American Diabetes Association.
