FRIEDA K. PHELPS

Frieda K. Phelps, 92 formerly of Hop Bottom, PA and recently at Golden Living Stroud in East Stroudsburg was called home to her heavenly family early Friday morning, February 13, 2009. She was the widow of Gerald O. Phelps, who died in 1988. Born September 27, 1916 in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Katie Korban.

She worked very hard her entire life as a farmer's wife, Chief Clerk at PennDOT and raising her family. Her many talents included making cathedral quilts, making button bouquets, writing, painting and drawing, and whatever other craft interested her.

She is best known for her "Resurrection Scene" which she eagerly shared with many new and old friends alike. What will be missed is the sparkle in her beautiful blue eyes, her wonderful smile and charming wit and ever-loving spirit. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Well done, thou good and faithful servant.

Surviving are her sons, Elwood Phelps and wife Susie, Hop Bottom, PA, and Dennis Phelps and Ms. Fox; daughters, Marcia Albertson and husband James, VA and Janice Burgerhoff and husband Carl, LA and Carol Jones and husband Terry, East Stroudsburg, PA; one sister, Catherine Tugend, Kingsley, PA; and one brother, Elwood Korban and wife Edith, Hop Bottom; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many friends at Golden Living Stroud.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Herman; six brothers, Gus, Rudy, Al, Carl, John and William Korban.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Scranton, PA

Funeral services were conducted Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Scranton, PA.

Interment, Dimock Cemetery, Susquehanna County.

Memorial contributions can be made to St Paul's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 196, Tannersville, PA 18372; or Peace Lutheran Church, 2506 N. Main Avenue, Scranton, PA 18508.

MARY ABBOUD

Mary (Gallipoli) Abboud, 86, passed away February 14, 2009 after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Abboud; a son, James; a daughter, Joan (Abboud) Lotz; and a grandson, Michael Abboud.

She is survived by her son, George Abboud of Susquehanna; daughters, Anna Hale of Susquehanna and JoLynn Erkfitz of Binghamton; a brother, John Gallipoli, Patterson, NJ; twelve grandchildren, Leila, John, Ted, George, James, Danielle, Ray, Jason, Justin, Jimmy, Tammy and Joey; fourteen great-grandchildren.

Arrangements to be announced.

GRACE W. GRUBER

Grace Gruber, 93, of Lanesboro, PA passed away Friday, February 20, 2009, at the Barnes-Kasson Hospital after an illness.

She was predeceased by her husband, Karl L. Gruber; two sons, Gerald Gruber (Yaklic) and Donald P. Gruber, Sr.

Grace was survived by her one son, Bernhard M. Gruber; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held later at the convenience of the family.
