Fund Established For Nature Trail

The family of the late Andrew F. Sienko, Sr. of Hallstead recently established a permanent endowment in his memory with The Community Foundation of Susquehanna & Wyoming Counties to provide for the maintenance and upkeep of the new Andrew F. Sienko, Sr. Memorial Nature Trail, which has been recently developed and was named in his honor by the Blue Ridge School Board.

The new nature trail at the Blue Ridge campus has been named in honor of Mr. Andrew F. Sienko, Sr.

The nature trail will be used by students for science, biology, and ecology classes, and it will also be accessible for the enjoyment of the general public for hiking and cross-country skiing. Benches have arrived that will be placed in various locations throughout the trail, and outdoor classrooms will be prepared for the students’ classes, especially for plant identification and cartography.

Mr. Sienko graduated from Blue Ridge in 1968. He was a long-time supporter of the school district, and it is his family’s desire to remember him with both the naming of the nature trail and by establishing the endowment to provide perpetual support for it.

Those wishing to honor the memory of Mr. Sienko, while also enhancing the assistance provided for the upkeep of the nature trail, may send their tax-deductible donations for the endowment to The Sienko Fund at The Community Foundation, 36 Lake Avenue, Montrose, PA 18801.
