We’ve Bridged A Gap

I am the Liberal friend that Jason Legg refers to in his column of August 12. We have been "fighting" by email for some time. I have to say that while he, the eternal Conservative, has not changed my mind on any issues except to help me see that while I had assumed I was a hundred percent Liberal, in fact I am actually probably three-fifths Liberal and two-fifths Libertarian. He is the first fully Conservative person I have met (with whom I have discussed the matter) that I actually like and respect and don't want to bash his head in with a sledge hammer. So, while most likely neither of us have changed our minds on our views towards political and spiritual issues, we have bridged a gap, which is a good thing, a miracle really.

Is there hope for some peace in the world?

Sincerely,

Margaret Karmazin

Susquehanna, PA

I Challenge You

The Northern Tier Coalition of Townships’ “zoning ordinance,” when unraveled and exposed, is reminiscent of the infamous penal laws implemented by England to strangle the impoverished Irish. That they did! However, it was not forgotten by post-generations of this proud people, and it was the “seed” that sprouted the eventual Irish Rebellion.

Before you discard this analogy to “hyperbole,” I challenge you and “your coalition” (NTC/COG) to agree to a countywide referendum. In so doing, democracy would again defeat the socialistic/communistic tactics and agendas being stealthily played out upon what “some” might consider “rubes... rednecks...”

Remember our history! There were no PhD’s at the Boston Tea Party.

Sincerely,

Jim Gurn

Liberty Township
