ELIZABETH J. SHELDON

Elizabeth J. Sheldon, 84, Thompson, PA, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2007, in the afternoon at home.

She was the widow of Harold Sheldon, who passed away in 2002.

Born July 6, 1923 in Thompson, daughter of the late Myrl and Cecile Dixon Stone, she was a graduate of Thompson High School. She was a member of the North Jackson Methodist Church, where she served as organist for many years and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

Her warmth, genuine concern for people and the unassuming way in which she shared her knowledge and experience made many who knew her feel she was their second mother. She loved attending her grandsons’ baseball games.

She is survived by sons Stanley (wife Jessie) of Lompoc, CA, Dr. Douglas (wife Margaret) of Dalton, PA, Paul (wife Susan) of Branchburg, NJ; daughters, June (Richard) Lambertson, Thompson, Dr. Helen (Alan) Longacre of Susquehanna; grandchildren, Joshua, Brian, Daniel, Jason and Lauren Sheldon, Adam, Sam and Jordan Longacre; brothers, Oscar, Donald and Elson Stone, Thompson; and sister, Helen Stone, Susquehanna.

She was predeceased by brothers, Paul and Everett Stone.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 3 at the North Jackson United Methodist Church with Rev. James Rouse officiating.

The family requests that contributions be made in Elizabeth’s memory to the North Jackson United Methodist Church, c/o Elaine Wood, P.O. Box 435, Jackson, PA 18825; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

LILLIAN A. SAAM

Lillian A. "Maisy" Saam, 84, Uniondale, died peacefully, Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at her home. She was the widow of John H. Saam, who died in 1996.

Born in Cochecton, New York in 1923, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Alice Soules Howard. She was a homemaker and a mother of 17 children.

Surviving are eight daughters, Ruth Carmody and husband David of Thompson, Betty Feyerabend and husband Carl of Bainbridge, NY, Kathleen Feyerabend of Sydney, NY, Joan Hall and husband Tim of Pleasant Mount, Sherri Spencer of Hanover Township, Jacqueline Thiem and husband Raymond of Uniondale, Lisa Eltz and husband Philip of Pleasant Mount, Brenda Martin and husband Warren of Pasadena, MD.

Also surviving are seven sons, Michael Saam and wife Margaret of Chugiak, AK, Gary Saam and wife Joan of Lake Ariel, Daniel Saam and wife Marianne of Pleasant Mount, John Saam and wife Ann Marie of Uniondale, Barry Saam and wife Patricia of Effort, Philip Saam of Ararat, and Randy Saam of Uniondale. Lillian also leaves behind 39 grandchildren, 48 great children and one great-great grandchild.

She was proceeded in death by an infant daughter, Connie and a son, Stephen.

Her family would like to thank the Home Health Care Hospice Professionals of Whites Crossing.

A memorial service was held Saturday in the Uniondale United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mary Bryant. Interment, Saint James' Cemetery, Pleasant Mount.
