DELBERT R. SEVERANCE

Delbert R. Severance, 93, Susquehanna, PA, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the Barnes-Kasson Hospital SNF in Susquehanna after an illness.

He was predeceased by his wife, Caroline (Bills) Severance in 2002; three brothers, Glen Severance, Russell Severance, Clarence Severance; two sisters, Dorothy Horton, Lucille Staerker.

Delbert is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Raymond and Louise Severance, Endwell, NY, Robert Severance; one daughter and son-in-law Delores and John Kucera, Johnson City, NY; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Robert and Rosemary Curtis; two stepdaughters and one son-in-law, Joan and Ken Rutt, Mary Curtis; one sister, Arlene Dodge, Binghamton, NY; one sister-in-law, Julia Severance, Binghamton; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and faithful companion, Perky.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in France during World War II where he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of St. John’s Church of Susquehanna and retired from the United States Postal Service in Binghamton.

The funeral was held on Monday, September 3 at St. John’s Church, Susquehanna, where a Mass of Christian Burial was offered by Rev. Albert Leonard.

Burial, Evergreen Cemetery, Susquehanna.

Arrangements were made by Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna.

THOMAS L. ATON

Thomas L. Aton, 59, Harford, PA, passed away on Thursday August 28, 2007, in the VNA Hospice at CMC, Scranton, PA, after an extended illness. He was born in Chicago, IL, to the late Thomas L. and Rosemary (Karpin) Aton.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Kelly and her son, Josh Williams; special cousins, Pat, Dava, Joe and Matt; and a community of local musicians and friends.

Tom was a gifted musician, accomplished home builder, and teacher.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, at the cabin Tom built.

Donations in Tom’s memory can be made to the VNA Hospice CMC Hospital, 301 Delaware Ave., Olyphant, PA 18447.

Arrangements were made through the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home.

ALTHEA L. RICHARDS

Althea L. Richards, 90, formerly of Hallstead, PA, passed away August 30, 2007, at Meadow View Senior Living Center. She was the wife of Llewellyn Richards, who predeceased her May 9, 1989.

Althea is survived by a daughter, Kathy E. Richards and companion, Walter Bower, New Milford, PA; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ann and Richard Rose; a brother-in-law, Laurence Osterhout; a great-grandchild, Jessica Buehring; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Brian Buehring, in 1997.

Althea was a member of United Methodist Community Church, Hallstead, PA where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was retried from her work as a telephone operator in Hallstead and New Milford.

A funeral service was held at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, on Saturday, September 1, with Pastor Donald W. Littleton officiating. Interment, South Gibson Cemetery, Gibson Township.

Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association of the Southern Tier, 1406 Monroe Street, Endicott, NY.
