Obituaries

EDWARD L. BARTON

Uncle Ed, 90, Lanesboro, PA, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2007, peacefully at the Barnes-Kasson Hospital after an illness.

He was born on September 6, 1916, in Canandaigua, NY, the son of the late Howard and Bertha Barton. Ed resided most of his life in Lanesboro with his brother, Miles Barton and family.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Miles, Josiah, David and sister, Daisy.

Ed is survived by his brother, Lyle Barton, Naples, NY; special family nephew, Duane and Lori Barton; nieces, Geraldine and Ronald Stone, Patricia and Robert Wayman, Kathleen and James Crawford. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Ed was a decorated World War II veteran of the United States Amy where he served in the Pacific. He worked for the D&H Railroad, Krahler’s Manufacturing and the Susquehanna Community School District from which he retired. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Ed” and enjoyed gardening, visiting with friends in the community and his family most of all.

The funeral service was held on Sunday, August 26 at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna, with Rev. Fred Johnson officiating.

Burial, Lanesboro Cemetery, Lanesboro, PA.
