LUCILLE NELLIE SHELDON CARLIN LEARN

Mrs. Lucille Nellie Sheldon Carlin Learn, age 76, Meshoppen, PA (South Auburn), went home to be with her Heavenly Father, Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 25, 2007, at the Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, PA.

Lucille was born on February 21, 1930 at the Barnes Hospital, in Susquehanna, PA, to the parents, Levi Benjamin and Edna Laura Crane Sheldon.

Lucille was a graduate of the Thompson High School, in Thompson, PA., in the class of 1948. She later graduated from the Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing, in Sayre, PA, in the class of 1951. From 1951 until 1953 she was employed as a registered nurse at the Ideal Hospital in Endicott, NY.

Lucille was married to the late Gilbert E. Carlin of South Auburn, on May 23, 1953, until his death in 1991. On November 1, 1992, she married the late Charles N. Learn of Laceyville, PA, until his death in 2004.

She was an active member of the Auburn Baptist Church, and was also the founder of the Ladies Bible Study Group. She was a former Sunday school teacher, and the church treasurer for 14 years. Lucille also attended the Braintrim Baptist Church in Laceyville, PA, with her late husband, Charles.

She is survived by her children, David Carlin, South Auburn, and his fiancée Elizabeth Patton, Mountain Lake, PA; Donald Carlin, Philadelphia, PA; Connie and John Vunderink, Hudsonville, MI; Paul Carlin, South Auburn, and his fiancée Sue Baczmarga, Plains, PA; Gerald and Tina Carlin, South Auburn, PA; Eugene and Helen Learn, Laceyville, PA; and Roberta Gillespie, Wyalusing, PA. Also two brothers, Gerald and Arlene Sheldon, Susquehanna, PA.; and Arthur and Barbara Sheldon, Live Oak, FL.; a sister, Anita Sheldon, Live Oak, FL and two sisters-in-law, Mable Sheldon, Susquehanna, PA, and Elizabeth Sheldon, Thompson, PA; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Sheldon in 1965, Harold Sheldon in 2002, and a sister, Alberta Sheldon in 2007.

Funeral services were held on Monday January 29, from the Auburn Baptist Church in West Auburn, PA, with Rev. Timothy Barnett of the Church, Rev. Thomas Davis of the Braintrim Baptist Church, and Rev. Richard Camp, a long-time family friend, officiating. Interment, South Auburn Cemetery.
