LAFORD F. COONS

Laford F. Coons, 94, Susquehanna, PA, went home to be with  his Lord, surrounded by his family, at Endless Mountains Health Systems, Montrose, PA, on Wednesday, January 17, 2007. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Alice Harvey Coons, in February, 1993.

He was born January 16, 1913 to the late Leonard and Gertrude Horst Coons.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Robert Whitney, Thompson; one grandson and fiancée, John Whitney and Carrie Bartlett, Susquehanna; one granddaughter, Diane Powers, Thompson; one sister, Helen Harvey, Montrose; one sister-in-law, Rose Coons, Waymart; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Walter Coons, William Coons, Robert Coons; and one sister, Louise Coons Stiles.

He was a member of the North Jackson United Methodist Church for many years; a retired farmer; and worked for Jackson Township for over 35 years.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 22 at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna, with Rev. Kenneth Bitler and Rev. Linda Kissel officiating.

Burial, North Jackson Cemetery, North Jackson.
