Turnpike Senior Center Update

Turnpike Senior Center Update

Greetings from Turnpike Terrace. A happy birthday to all our May people.

We had our monthly meeting; there were ten people there.

We went to Tedeschi’s restaurant in Great Bend for lunch. We had a busload, and had a good time. We always have a lot of fun wherever we go.

Happy Easter to everyone. We had a gospel singer here; what a great time. He and his wife are from Tennessee, and we enjoyed having them here. We hope they come back again.

We had a speaker on high blood pressure. She was very informative. I hope when she comes again we will have more people attend. It is for their own good.

We have a few tenants in the hospital. We hope they are up and about soon and can come home.

We are still playing dominoes; we have a great group there and a real good time. You should try it.

Our bingo games are still going strong. We play Mondays at 1:00 and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. Come join us.

A change in the weather for a few days – cold again.

Well, it is nice out again and after the rain we can see a lot of spring flowers coming up.

A group of us went to a ceramics class. We enjoyed ourselves and made some nice things. The time goes by fast when you are having fun.

Our trees are starting to bud and flower up here. It is so pretty when they are out.

Some of us go out and watch the girls’ softball games. It is great to be able to go out and sit, and especially to watch the kids.

We had our exercise class with Kay. We had seven gals there. It is fun and useful.

We went to the volunteer dinner Saturday, May 6. We had a nice time – we were served a barbecue chicken dinner and made our own ice cream sundaes. Joe and Pat King gave us a ride over and back, and Joe Canini took the rest of the gang. Everyone left with a smile on their face.

My family went to Binghamton on May 7 for a Mets game. My daughter, Robin sang the National Anthem! We are all proud of her. She did a good job.

Mothers Day saw lots of flowers and visitors coming in the building.

We had some cool days for the last few days. We are all hoping for some warm weather.

Our soup-and-sandwich day was cancelled to a later day, because there was so much going on that week.

A big birthday coming up for Fred Holtzman; on June 2 he will be 92 years young. A big “Happy Birthday” from your friends at the Terrace. Fred has been winning pretty regularly at bingo lately. Keep up the good work, Fred.

On Memorial Day we had a lot of doors decorated for the holiday.

See you next month!
