Blue Ridge Elementary Museum Experience

Recently, Blue Ridge Elementary fifth grade students held classes in the Everhart Museum in Scranton, PA. The students traveled to the museum to continue their integrated curriculum studies on Native American Indians. The students spent the day learning from museum docent teachers about the museum’s collections and written documentations explaining the artifacts and artwork. Each gallery provided the students with an understanding of how and why museums preserve items and allowed them to reflect on objects from various cultures and times. The students will return to their classrooms with their newly acquired knowledge to develop their own Native American Indian art projects and write text explaining their work for an exhibition in the spring of 2006.
