CAROL (SELLERS) JONES Carol (Sellers) Jones, 67, Groton, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Jones on May 27, 2002. Carol is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Bradley and Ann Jones, Oakland, PA, David and Robin Jones, Groton, NY, Rodney Jones, Groton, NY, Douglas Jones, Apalachin, NY; two daughters, Melissa Jones and Lucinda Jones, both of Groton, NY; two brothers, Horace Sellers, Lillington, NC, James Sellers, Middlesex, NC; four sisters, Charlotte Balmer, Hop Bottom, PA, Judy Canfield, Susquehanna, Linda Cook, Susquehanna, Lucy Audrey Glover, Kirkwood, NY; 19 grandchildren; 16 nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Susquehanna Community High School, Class of 1956. Carol used to be a dance instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance School; she also worked as a nurses’ aide, and before her retirement she owned and operated Carol’s Cut and Curl in Groton, NY. Carol resided in Lansing, NY for many years, until she became ill and moved in with her son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Ann Jones in Oakland, PA. The funeral service was held on Saturday, February 26 at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna, with the Rev. Carl Batzel officiating. Burial, in the Lanesboro Cemetery, Lanesboro, PA. GENEVIEVE (MIDGE) DUBANOWITZ Genevieve (Midge) Dubanowitz, 78, Susquehanna, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at Barnes-Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, after an extended illness. Midge was predeceased by her husband, Leon, Sr.; parents, George and Pearl Snyder; three brothers, Henry, Edward, and George, Jr., Snyder. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Catherine Dubanowitz, Leon, Jr. and Sara Dubanowitz; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and John Benson, all of Susquehanna. Midge was a devoted mother and grandmother, leaving behind her beloved grandchildren, Victor, Jr. and wife Shiela, Kevin, Jason, Nickie, Michelle, Amber, Jill, Jaime, Jennifer, and eight great-grandchildren. Midge was a member of the Susquehanna United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of the Canawacta Rod and Gun Club, Susquehanna. Midge was a cook and waitress at the Town Restaurant in Susquehanna for many years. She will be remembered for her game dinners up on the hill, her bingo calling and letting you know just where you stood. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and will leave behind a void that can never be filled. The family would like to thank Dr. DeWitt and wife Nancy, and the Barnes-Kasson Hospital for all their love, special attention and care given to Mom the last three years. SANFORD “MIKE” RYDER Sanford “Mike” Ryder, 82, Susquehanna, PA, passed away December 28, 2004 after an illness. He was survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Marie Ryder; two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Marie Ryder, Michael and Mary Jane Ryder; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen and Ernest Nichols, Sandra Ryder, Patricia and Ron Harting; one brother, Richard and Linda Ryder; two sisters, Martha Goodfellow, Tharon White; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. at the Lanesboro Community Church, Lanesboro, PA, with Rev. Carl Batzel officiating. Burial will be in the Lanesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Lanesboro Church on Saturday from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. ELIZABETH W. HARRIS Elizabeth W. Harris, 86, Montrose, PA, died Friday, February 25, 2005 at Hart’s Personal Care Home, Montrose, PA. Born January 12, 1919 in Trenton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Leon R. and Gladys (Flitcroft) Harris. Elizabeth graduated from the University of Colorado where she received a Masters Degree in Public Health Nursing. She was a nurse at Barnes-Kasson Hospital, where she also was the Director of Home Health. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Montrose, PA. She enjoyed traveling and assisted in many local charities and service organizations. She was active in the Old Mill Village, New Milford, PA. Survivors include brother, William J. and Ellen Harris, Sierra Vista, AZ; brother-in-law, Warren K. Morgan Jr., Montrose, PA; daughter, Janet Brown, Durham, NC; seven nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara J. Bisel, Mary H. Morgan. Services were held on Monday, February 28, at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., a Selected Independent Funeral Home, 74 Church Street, Montrose, PA.
