Pvt. Gregory Bradley Completes Basic

Army National Guard Pvt. Gregory S. Bradley has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma.

During the eight weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction in drill and ceremonies, rifle marksmanship, weapons, map reading, tactics, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, Army history, core values and traditions, and special training in human relations.

Gregory is the son of Jay Bradley, of N. Center St., Hop Bottom.

Major Kane Reassigned

Major Martin J. Kane was recently assigned as the Executive Officer of 1st Battalion, 109th Infantry (Mechanized), Scranton, PA.

His experience includes three years active duty in the United States Marine Corps. He joined the Army National Guard in 1985. Kane has served as Mortar Platoon Leader, Rifle Platoon Leader, Mechanized Infantry Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Infantry Company Commander, Headquarters Company Commander, Battalion Intelligence Officer (S2), and Battalion Logistics Officer (S4). His most recent assignment was Operations and Training Officer (S3) of 1st Battalion, 109th Infantry (Task Force Bluesteel), which conducted NATO peacekeeping operations in Bosnia Herzegovina.

Kane has completed the Infantry Officer’s Basic Course, Infantry Mortar Platoon Officer’s Course, and the Combined Arms Services Staff School. He is currently enrolled in the Army Command and General Staff Officer’s Course.

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (5 awards), the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the Reserve Component Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Medal, the NATO Medal, and the Pennsylvania Commendation Medal.

Kane is the Student Services Advisor at the Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center. He resides in Montrose, with his family.
