GOP Women Award Annual Scholarships
Ashley Tierney Gets Mansfield Honors

GOP Women Award Annual Scholarships

Mary F. Evans, Scholarship Chairman for the Susquehanna County Council of Republican Women has announced the winners for 2003. The "Carmel Sirianni Memorial Scholarship" was awarded to a student in each of our six county high schools, who through community service involvement has exhibited exceptional leadership qualities. The awards were presented by President Donna Cosmello, Cathy Benedict, Unadine Wiseman and Helen Foster.

The recipients wee:

Blue Ridge – Benjamin Franks, Great Bend, going to East Stroudsburg University (Political Science).

Elk Lake – Renata Schneider, Montrose, going to Wilkes University (Nursing).

Forest City – Ronda Hugaboom, Pleasant Mount, going to Bloomsburg University (Criminal Justice).

Montrose – Emily Teter, Montrose, going to Mansfield University (Elementary/Special Ed.).

Mountain View – Katie Salansky, Union Dale, going to Delaware Valley College (Equine Studies).

Susquehanna – Deanne Sellitto, Susquehanna, going to Lock Haven University (Special Ed.).

Ashley Tierney Gets Mansfield Honors

Mansfield- Ashley Tierney was named to the list of 2002-03 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar Athletes. Ashley, a 2002 graduate of Blue Ridge High School is a member of both the cross-country and track and field teams at Mansfield.

In order to be eligible for the honor of scholar athlete a student must meet the following criteria: the student must be full-time (12 credit hours or more), be involved in an athletic program on campus, and maintain at-least a 3.25 Cumulative Grade Point Average.

Ashley is the daughter of Ed and Becky Tierney of Hallstead, and is majoring in Secondary Education at Mansfield.
