Gold From God's Word

If we learn one thing in reading about Daniel in Daniel chapter 6:1-11, we learn that, only when we face the lions have we truly tested our resolve to follow Christ. It was in this place of testing that Daniel stood firm. His marching orders were clear and he was not about to forsake the God he loved for the king he served. He knelt three times a day and prayed and gave thanks "before his God." What type of devotion drives a man to his knees in the face of sure persecution and even death? It can only be the devotion of a man totally sold out to Christ. Only with a devotion of a Daniel can it be said," He didn't face the lions; the lions faced him."

If only our faith would be stretched to it's furthest extreme, so that we might be able to "face the lions" in a spirit of confidence, knowing that our faithful God will deliver us. Give us Daniel's devotion in the midst of impending persecution!

That placing of that total trust in God for daily living is also where one's salvation starts. By placing our total trust in God's provision at Calvary for the payment of our sins, we're exercising the faith needed to save us from sin's penalty of death and hell. Many place their trust in their own good deeds or righteous living to merit heaven. While many others trust in their Baptism, church membership or sacraments. Repentance of those things and a turning to a complete trust in Christ will born you into the family of God. Sadly, many miss that point and never exercise saving faith and then they wonder why they don't have living faith in our day to day walk with God. Whether your wondering about heaven or are a Christian already facing daily issues in your life, stretch that faith; take that "leap of faith" and experience first hand the faithfulness of God Almighty!
