JEWEL L. WILMARTH

Jewel L. (Cook) Wilmarth 61, Lake Placid, Florida, died Monday, June 30, 2003 in the Florida Hospital–Lake Placid. Jewel was a native of Sydney, New York and had been a resident of Lake Placid for the past 16 years, coming from New Milford, PA. Jewel was a volunteer at the Lake Placid Municipal Library for the past eight years, serving in many capacities. She was a member of the Friends of the Library in Lake Placid and a Methodist by faith.

Jewel is survived by her husband, Howard I. Wilmarth; children, Gregory C. of Williamsburg, VA, Deborah Beers, Smithfield, VA, Peggy Sueppel, Lake Placid; sisters, Gail Borst, Newport News, VA, Kathy Benson, Mt. Upton, NY, Eileen Feitsma, Norwich, NY, Donna Miner, Ocala, FL; brothers, Gary Cook, Syracuse, NY, William Ostrander, Sydney, NY, Marcus Cook, Niceville, FL; stepfather, Donald Ostrander, Ocala, FL. Jewel leaves behind two grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Lake Placid Library, 47 Park Drive, Lake Placid, Florida 33852.

Arrangements are under the loving guidance of Scott Funeral Home, Lake Placid.

DOROTHA BRINK THOMAS

Dorotha Brink Thomas, 91, Tunkhannock, PA, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2003 at the Carpenter Care Home, Tunkhannock, PA. She was born March 6, 1912 in Auburn Center, PA, and was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Tessie Brink. She is predeceased by three brothers, Arthur, Paul, and Theodore.

Dorotha is survived by a sister, Ruth Abbott, Sayre, PA; a sister-in-law, Jean Brink, Binghamton, NY; two daughters, Peggy Tower Barclay and husband Robert, Granbury, TX, Betty Kelly Sturek and husband Joseph, Hallstead, PA; another sister-in-law, Mary Thomas, Endicott, NY; a stepson, Richard Thomas and wife Kathy, Glen Park, NJ; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a very special family who made her life very happy, Robert and Alida Priestner, South Auburn, PA.

Dorotha was employed by Ansco, Binghamton, NY and by Kemper Insurance, Summit, NJ before retiring to Lawton, PA with her husband, William Thomas. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hallstead, PA.

Funeral services were held from the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, with the Reverend Mark Allen officiating. Interment, Rushville Cemetery.
