SCCTC Students Place In District Competition

The Skills USA/VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) District I Competitions were held on December 17. Competitions were hosted by the Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center, Tunkhannock Area School District and Lackawanna Trail School District.

Students that participated in VICA had the opportunity to compete in one of seventy areas, including Commercial Baking, Nail Care, Carpentry, Team Works and Prepared Speech.

Participating schools included Lackawanna Trail, Wallenpaupack, West Side AVTS, Carbon County AVTS, Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center, Wilkes-Barre AVTS, CTC of Lackawanna County, Delaware Valley High School, and Hazleton Area Career Center.

SCCTC VICA officers for the 2002-03 school year (l-r) are: Patricia Stone - Secretary; Crystal Seigle - Treasurer; Amber Neild - Reporter; Theresa Phelps - Parliamentarian; Rusty Hertzler - President; Aaron Benson - Vice President.

Winners from the Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center included the following.

First place winners: Aaron Benson - Susquehanna Community High School; Amber Neild - Montrose Area High School; Kim Harris - Susquehanna Community High School; Jennifer Covert - Susquehanna Community High School; Linda Calcaine - adult; Chanell Pitonyak - Susquehanna Community High School.

Second place winners: Dan Allen - Elk Lake High School.
