Dairy Court Visits Choconut Valley

At the recent Choconut Valley Elementary School Field Day, members of the Dairy Promotion team played games and refueled the students with chocolate milk provided by Mountain Side Market. Chocolate milk provides electrolytes such as calcium, potassium and magnesium to refuel after taking part in a sports activity. Consuming chocolate milk is a healthy option for everyone, especially for growing kids.

Along with serving milk, Dairy Princess Mary Catherine Chidester and Alternate Princess Brooke Arnold spoke with the kids about the importance of having three everyday of milk, cheese and/or yogurt. Dairy Ambassadors attending took turns talking with the kids about dairy facts such as how much milk does a cow produce each day and how much does and cow eat and drink to produce the milk. The answers to those questions are; the average cow produces about 8 gallons of milk per day and to do that she eats about 100 pounds of food and drinks a bathtub of water daily.

The Dairy Promotion Team (l-r) are: Jillian Gustin, Alivia Hughes, Brooke Arnold, Mary Catherine Chidester, Kaelynn Brant, Elizabeth Chidester, Courtney Marvin
