Borderline 4-H Goes To State College

During the last weekend in January, members of the 4H club Borderline, as well as other clubs throughout Susquehanna County, attended the 2018 4H State Leadership Conference at State College.  Zeb Swartley, who has attended the conference all six years he was eligible, was sad to see his last year come and go.  Other members from Borderline who attended were Megan McVaugh, who thoroughly enjoyed her first and only time, as well as Nate Pettyjohn, who still has two years left to attend.

Pictured front row (l-r) are: Sarah Marble, Megan Zipprich, Megan McVaugh, Kimberly Swartz; back row (l-r) are: Emma Zipprich, Nathaniel Pettyjohn, Hannah Hricko, Zebulun Swartley, Josiah Hricko.

4-Her's brought lightly worn shoes and canned food to the conference to support local food drives and less well off families. At the conference, 4-Her's attended six workshops each where they learned different leadership skills, as well as skills to use around the county and at 4-H summer camps.  In addition to these workshops, there were numerous keynote speakers who shared their experiences through life, as well as their agricultural experiences, and why agriculture is important.

"I had a great time, and plan to attend next year.  It was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot," says Nate Pettyjohn.
