Robert Murphy Is First to Pass

Robert Murphy is the first student of the Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center (SCCTC) Welding Program ever to pass the API (American Petroleum Institute) 1104 Welding of Pipelines and Related Facilities downhill test. This is the same test that pipeline welders take. Rob’s instructor, Mr. Ray Ingaglio, said “This is a very hard test, and only a small percentage of welders are able to obtain this certification. Rob worked very hard to pass this API test. He also passed his AWS (American Welding Society) D1.1 structural welding tests last year.”

Robert is a senior at Susquehanna Community High School and is also currently enrolled in the SCCTC Cooperative Education Program. He works at Linde Corporation in Pittston, PA where his supervisors have helped him with instruction and encouragement. At present, Rob is practicing for even more difficult qualification tests.
