At the July 15 meeting of the New Milford Township supervisors the meeting began, as it generally does, promptly. After the standard start of the meeting proceedings, the supervisors moved on to new business.
Bids were opened for equipment the township was selling. First opened were bids for the Gradal. Only one bid was received, from Highland Road Enterprises. Mr. Shibley asked Mr. Conroy his preference, regarding whether to accept the bid or wait for another bid. The supervisors decided to accept the bid.
Next opened were bids on the AM General truck. Three bids for that had been received: from Daniel Steiner, Highland Road Enterprises, and Ken Kublo. The supervisors decided to accept Mr. Kublo's bid, being the high one.
It was related that DEP had notified the township of a violation. Penelec had released transformer oil onto a property at SR 11 and School Road. Penelec was taking care of the spill; DEP knew about it. The township did not need to take action it was said; this was just simply notification.
The township had received the annual Lyncott Facility ground water testing report from DEP. All levels were within normal range.
It was noted that the township had switched to green energy. The secretary referred to a certificate on the wall, which spoke of the amount of pollutants thereby removed from the air the township breathed each month.
It was announced that the township had created a Facebook page. Residents could use the page to follow notifications at: www.facebook.com/nmtwp.
