DANIEL E. DENNY, SR.

Daniel E. Denny, Sr., 79, of Hallstead, PA joined his wife in eternal rest on July 16. Thea, his wife of almost 60 years, preceded him on July 3.

Danny is survived by his children, Mickey and Erwin Aldana and Daniel E. and Jane Denny, Jr.; 5 grandchildren, Jonathan, Sydney, Taylor, Nicole, and Caitlin; a brother, Clyde Denny; sisters, Maureen Dedrick, Janice and Joanne Evans; a relative of the heart, Beverly Lee; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte Carter, twin brothers, Lester and Larue Evans, and a brother, Llewellyn.

Danny enjoyed playing softball and volunteered as a Little League baseball coach for several years. He served on the school board and Session with the Presbyterian Church. Danny loved to sing and joined the Presbyterian Church choir. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force stationed in Africa. He was always willing to lend a hand to friends or neighbors. Danny and Thea were inseparable, enjoying a drive on country roads, spotting deer, inevitably ending at a Tasty Freeze. They could often be found with Donna and Roland Tompkins or Harold and Jane Bennett.

Private inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gino Merli Veterans Center, Resident Welfare Fund, 401 Penn Avenue, Scranton, PA 18503.

Joseph S. Ranieri

Joseph S. Ranieri, 73, of Thompson, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA after an illness.

Joseph was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Doherty and step father Patrick.

He was survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Rita Ranieri; two sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph S. Ranieri of New Hampshire and Philip J. and Stacy Ranieri of Helmetta, New Jersey; and two granddaughters Kayla and Brianna Ranieri.

Joseph worked as a Millwright at General Motors in Linden, New Jersey for 30 years. After his retirement in 2000, he and his wife Rita moved to Thompson, PA, where Joseph enjoyed taking care of his property and being outdoors. He also enjoyed traveling in his RV during the winter taking several trips to Arizona as well as many of the other Southern US states. One of his favorite hobbies while in Arizona was playing Bocce Ball. Most of all Joseph loved to spend time with his family who will miss him dearly.

A Funeral Mass will be held at the St. John’s Church, in Susquehanna, PA, on Friday July 17, 2015, at 11am with Rev. Charles Connor officiating.

Interment will be held at a later date.

The family will receive friends at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA, on Thursday, from 2 to 5pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Elizabeth (Toots) E. Frost

Elizabeth E. Frost, 84, of Susquehanna, Pa. passed away Thursday July 16, 2015 at the Barnes Kasson Hospital in Susquehanna after an illness.

Elizabeth was born in Oakland Township, Pa. on April 15, 1931 the daughter of the late Chester & Emma (Surgent) Treible.

She was predeceased by her husband Edwin D. Frost; sister Joan Tross and brother Raymond Treible.

She is survived by her children Susan Houghtaling-Stevens; Charles Houghtaling; James R. Tuttle; Joann Kupst; Barbara Treible; Jerry Treible; Jack Frost and Cindy Frost; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; brother Charles Treible; sister Arlene Rudick.

Toots was a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Great Bend, Pa. She enjoyed watching and feed birds and fishing.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 25th at 11am at the First Baptist Church in Susquehanna with Pastor Gary Day officiating.

Family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday from 10 to 11am.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
