Elk Lake Forensics Staying Strong

After a rough start to the second half of the season the previous weekend, the Elk Lake Forensics Team came out strong at the 16th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tournament at Meyers HS on January 17.
Two EL team members brought home trophies from Meyers.
Kenneth Brittingham placed second in Varsity Student Congress while serving as Presiding Officier during the second session. This is the fifth consecutive tournament that Brittingham has placed in the top five.

In Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate, senior Haley Skinner advanced to Finals after compiling an undefeated, 4 win and 0 loss, record during the preliminary rounds. On her way to that record, she defeated debaters from Unionville, Southwestern, and Hershey HS.
In the finals, she lost to the only other undefeated debater in the field, Barron Williams from Danville HS.
“I am really happy with the team’s performance today. They worked very hard to prepare for this tournament,” commented EL Forensics Director Keith Brosious.
The team will have traveled to Lake-Lehman HS on January 24 to compete at the Scranton Catholic Forensics League’s second, and final, league tournament.

Castrogiovanni Makes Dean's List
Morrisville State College recently announced that Evan Castrogiovanni of Montrose, PA was named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2014 semester.
To be named to the Dean's List, a student must achieve an average of 3.0 to 3.99 for the semester and complete 12 credit hours.
