On Friday, December 19th, the Susquehanna Community Awareness Committee and United Methodist Church on Main St in Susquehanna hosted “A Walk Back In Time”, presented by Jon C. Burdick.

Jon C. Burdick
This pictorial review of the history of Susquehanna consisted of over some 200 pictures. Burdick said he has been collecting historical and new pictures of the area for years now and had collected thousands. For six years now Burdick has been taking his photographs, which he personally frames and mats, to craft shows and they are available for purchase. Burdick stated his presentation includes a history of the town since the 1870’s, including explanations of what happened to the historical town, such as fires and floods being the two things that destroyed and majority of the historical buildings in our town.
Anyone interested in seeing more about upcoming events or purchasing Burdick’s photographs can send him a friend request on Facebook at “A Walk Back in Time with Jon C. Burdick”.
Susquehanna County 4-H Educator Abby Onyon recently accepted a generous donation from the members of the Silver Lake Rod and Gun Club. The funds are used towards purchasing equipment, funding the 4-H Shooting Sports Fun Day held each year in May, and assisting 4-H members that participate in local, state, and national shooting sports events.
The Silver Lake Rod and Gun Club also graciously allowed Susquehanna County 4-H to use their facilities to hold the 4-H Shooting Sports Fun Day. Youth that attended were able to try archery, air rifle or pistol, riflery, and shotgun. Thank you very much to all the members of the Silver Lake Rod and Gun Club for their continued support of the Susquehanna County 4-H Program.

In memory of Kelly Conklin her friends, Andrea Walker and Lindsey Lawrenson organized a clothing drive this past Saturday, December 20th. Lindsey and Andrea said that last September Kelly had done a clothing drive, “because that was the kind of person she was”. The two stated they wanted to do something positive in memory of Kelly in the spirit of the holidays.

All clothing collected will be donated to Susquehanna Community Interfaith in Montrose. The turn out for the drive was overwhelming. One load of clothing was delivered on Friday and the drop off that was taking place at the Lanesboro Church on Saturday morning was already producing more donations than anticipated. The family of Kelly Conklin, along with Walker and Lawrenson wanted to thank all that helped make this event a success and donated.
Happy Holidays to all. Nora is our pet of the week and she is hoping for a home for Christmas. She is a friendly, spayed young adult and has been tested for FIV and Feluk (negative). She would make a great family companion.

At Christmas time we advise all pet guardians to be aware of plants, ornaments and foods that may harm your animals. They may also be stressed with all the celebrations and visitors. Keep them safe and out of harms way when entertaining. We thank those of you who have donated to our shelter throughout the year and for the Christmas season. Best wishes to everyone for a safe and enjoyable holiday.
