Paul E. Pickering

Paul E. Pickering, 73, of Brooklyn, PA passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, September 6, 2014 at his home.  Born September 10, 1940 in Hop Bottom, PA, he was the son of the late Louis and Beatrice [Razey] Pickering.

He worked for Walczak Lumber Company for many years and later on retired from Proctor and Gamble. 

Paul served in the United States Army.

He was a car enthusiast traveling for over 35 years to Carlisle, PA and other places to show off his pride and joy, his blazing yellow Ford F150. 

Survivors include brothers & sister-in-law, Jesse W. Pickering of Brooklyn, PA and James & Rose Pickering of Hop Bottom, PA and numerous nieces & nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, William, Clair, Harold, Richard & LeRoy Pickering.

Visitation is 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday at the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose, PA. 

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Montrose Minute Men, P.O Box 461, Montrose, PA 18801.

Carl A. Brewer (06/08/1949 ~ 09/03/2014)

Carl A. Brewer, 65, of New Milford passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 3, 2014. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Wingate, Unadilla and Lorie Brewer, Endicott; his mother, Juanita Brewer, New Milford; his grandchildren, Jonathan and Samantha; sister, Sharon Chesko; brothers Wayne Brewer and Alan Brewer. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Brewer and by his father, Claude Brewer.

Carl was lucky to have a job that he loved, spending over 30 years behind the wheel of a tractor and trailer. From his belt buckles to his cowboy boots, he was true to who he was. He loved camping, dancing and playing cards. Spending time with his family and friends always put a smile on his face. Most of all, he loved to read and could always be found with a book in his hands and a bowl of popcorn at his side.  

Carl had a quick smile, an easy nature and a gentle soul. His kindness touched the lives of many. His passing leaves an empty space in the lives of those who loved him most.

“It's so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone.”

At Carl’s request, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, PA. Memorial contributions can be made in Carl’s memory to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 207 Locust Street, Montrose, PA 18801 – proof that there truly are angels among us.

RICHARD R. CONSLA

Richard R. Consla, 68, of Susquehanna, PA was called home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2014.  He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Judy Smith Consla.

Richard is also survived by five children, Duane Consla, Jeanine and Roberto Salazar, Denise Consla and Paul Kennedy, Jeremy Consla and Amy Butts, and Stephanie and Tim Babcock; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, William and Edward; four sisters, Sherry, June, Jill, and Ruth Ann; and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, John.  

Richard served with the United States Army during Vietnam.  He was a faithful member of the American Legion Post #86, Susquehanna, PA.  Richard loved spoiling his grandsons. 

At his request, there will be no public services.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA.  Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 Williams Street, Dunmore, PA 18512.

Otto W. Klees

Otto W. Klees of South Gibson, PA died peacefully Monday afternoon August 25, 2014 at Florida Hospital Altamonte Springs.

He was born in Lathrop Township on February 12, 1921, the son of Kristian and Elisabeth Scheffler Klees.  Otto is survived by his wife Emma H. Holzman, children Edward Klees and Evelyn Nehme, son-in-law Andre Nehme, granddaughter Natalie Nehme and close friend Jane Warriner.  He was predeceased by his brothers Leopold, Albert and sisters Elizabeth and Emily.  

His education began at “Maple Grove University” a one room school house in Lathrop Township.  He graduated from the Spartan School of Aeronautics and served in the US Army Air Corps from 1941-45.  He received his AA Degree from Keystone College in 1949, BA Degree from Valparaiso University IN in1951, and pursued post-graduate studies at SUNY Binghamton.  His professional career began at Link Aviation in Binghamton NY and continued at IBM Endicott where he retired as member of the Quarter Century and Heritage Country Clubs.

Otto served 10 years on the Mt. View School Board, was a member of the Susquehanna County Republican C-Club, Literacy Program, Brooklyn Historical Society, NRA.

Funeral services were held at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home Montrose PA, on September 6th, followed by interment at the South Gibson Cemetery.

Mary M. Stackowitz

Mary M. Stackowitz, 72, of Susquehanna, PA, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014, after an illness at the Barnes Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, PA.

Mary was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Catherine McAuliffe; one sister Maureen McAuliffe; and dear friend MaryAnn “Migs” Ayres.

Mary was survived by her loving husband of 49 years John R. Stackowitz Sr.; two sons John R. Stackowitz Jr, and Jerome T. Stackowitz; one daughter and son-in-law Jacqueline L. and Ellis Lair; one grandson Thomas M. Golka; three sisters Catherine Adornato, Jeanne Marie McAuliffe and Patricia Testa; dear friends Lillian Klym, Carol Cook, and Gerry and Carolyn Gow; her cat Bert; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church, in Susquehanna, PA. She also spent time serving on the Susquehanna Borough Town Council. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the St. John’s Church in Susquehanna, PA, on Saturday, September 6, 2014, with Rev. David Cramer officiating.
