Letters to the Editor Policy

Not Paying Attention

“If you’re not outraged, then you’re not paying attention.” So states a bumper sticker supporting a ‘conservative’ point of view. If you are paying attention, and not outraged, then as my late mother would comment, you’re ‘dead from the neck up.’

How many citizens know about Agenda 21? How many recognize what ‘sustainability,’ according to EPA standards and the United Nations, means to private property rights? How involved is your county in this diabolical scheme to control everything you do with your land, water and possessions? Do you know? Have you read the publications emanating from your local ‘Progress Authority,’ County Commissioners or your “Economic Development Advisory Board?’ How about your local ‘planning commission?’ Although hidden well in the text of these publications, the planned effect from these entities on your lives could be “limitless.”

How many parents know the real facts regarding the Common Core curriculum? How much research has been done by local representatives into the real end-game of ‘the common core,’ who will actually benefit and how it will affect your children?

How many people - especially our politicians in Washington - know the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ of the Export-Import Bank, its cost, the reason it exists (to extend crony capitalism to such giant business entities such as General Electric and Boeing) and the negative effect it has on smaller American companies? How many of them know that all they need to do to end this gravy train for these corporate giants is to let the ‘bank’ expire, saving taxpayers billions of dollars?

How many representatives and leaders, from all levels of government and beyond, have addressed the scandals emanating from the IRS, Veterans’ Administration or the Department of (in)Justice? How many of them recognize the real, imminent danger that ISIS is posing? How many realize that our ‘open borders’ policy will lead to attacks on our homeland? How many really care? What might they be telling us on September 12th?

How many illegal, unescorted ‘children’ are going to be registered in our schools and given every possible social service and ‘entitlement’ that can be brought to bear, all at our expense? How many ‘diseases’ will they be bringing with them when they do show up? Have any of our local politicians, councilmen, commissioners, mayors - anybody - given an answer to that question? On a national level, how many know that the regime intends (according to Rep. Luis Gutierrez -D-Illinois) to grant amnesty for 5 million illegals before Labor Day?

How many of our representatives have conducted Town Hall meetings during this current congressional ‘recess?’ When was the last time you met with your Congressman or Senator? How many of them have actually taken time to address any of your questions or concerns about anything happening in our county, state or country - in person? How many of them - Democrat or Republican - are doing anything to make things better instead of fighting to maintain the status quo?

If you’re not outraged, then you’re not paying attention!

Sincerely,

Bruce & Edna Paskoff

Montrose, PA
