CHRISTOPHER JAMES FISH

Christopher James Fish, 38, of Great Bend, PA went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2014. He is the son of Kenneth and the late Jerilyn Fish.

Chris is survived by a brother, Keith and Julie Fish, Middletown, PA; two nieces, Alex Fish and Jill Lawyer; aunts and uncles, Gene and Barbara Fish, Windsor, NY, Walter and Marguerite Fish, Edwardsville, PA, Linda Fish, Avoca, PA, and Joyce and Jerry Andrus, Port Crane, NY; many cousins; his brothers of the Great Bend Fire Department; and numerous close friends. He was predeceased by his fraternal grandparents, Leland and Gladys Fish and also his maternal grandfather, Walter Blochberger.

Chris was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was the owner of Chris Fish Construction and Painting, Great Bend, PA. Chris was a 22 member of the Great Bend Fire Department, currently serving as Captain. He was also a member of the Sons of the V.F.W. Post #6223. Chris was a loving son, brother, and uncle. He was always willing to do anything for his friends and family and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A prayer vigil was held Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA. Spring inurnment will be made in St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Great Bend Fire Department, P.O. Box 201, Great Bend, PA 18821.

James E. Grande

James E. Grande, 83, of Susquehanna, Pa., born in Staten Island, NY on April 9, 1930, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY after an illness of two and half years.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Lorraine (Alextuinas) “Lorrie” Grande, also originally from Staten Island, NY; brother and sister-in-law Robert & Tina Grande, of California; two sisters and brother-in-law Gloria & Bill Twinem, of Long Island, NY; Joan Meyers, of Staten Island, NY; special nephew Robert Grande Jr., of Staten Island, NY; several nieces and nephews.

He retired and moved to the Susquehanna area in 1981 and started the du bois graphics printing shop that he operated for many years in Susquehanna. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the American Legion Post #86.  James was a member of St. John The Evangelist Church of Susquehanna and built a shrine at his home to Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Janet M. Nutting

Janet M. Nutting, 75, of Marcellus, NY, died Monday, January 20, 2014, at Crouse Hospital.  Born in Susquehanna, PA , Janet was married to her husband Fred in the Susquehanna Presbyterian Church in 1961.  They moved to Marcellus in 1966.  Janet was a homemaker.  She was a 55+ year member of Order of the Eastern Star, and was Matron multiple times for Morning Star Chapter #289, along with being District Deputy twice.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years Frederick B. Nutting; son Andrew (Barbara) Nutting of Marcellus; and two granddaughters Rebecca and Deanna.

A Funeral service was held Monday, January 27 at Ryan Funeral Home, Marcellus, NY.  Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Navarino.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grand Chapter OES, Pounder Hall Apt. 106, 1400 Utica Street, Oriskany, NY 13424.

LEE T. SUMMERS JR.

An angel said, “Come with me, peace has now set you free.” Lee T. Summers Jr., 72, of Hallstead, PA entered into Eternal rest on January 20, 2014.  He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Barbara (Geiser) of 30 years.  He was predeceased by his parents Lee and Julia Summers, Sr.

Also surviving are four sisters, Mary Keller and husband Jim, Okechobee, FL, Elizabeth Elbrecht and husband Everett, Great Bend, PA, Nina Coates and husband Dave, Ontario, Canada, Janet Kilmer, Hop Bottom, PA; two daughters, Jennifer Witbeck and husband Bryan, Hallstead, PA and Nicole Burdick, Owego, NY; a very special grandson, Landen John Witbeck; also grandsons, Jacob and Kit Burdick; many nieces and nephews; two best friends, whom Lee considered his brothers, and time together was the highlight of his days, Doug Evans and Jesse Naylor; a close and special friend, Melissa, who could always make him smile.

Lee served with the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Unit, during the Vietnam Era, in Korea and Germany.

He was employed with the Hallstead Iron Foundry for 25 years as a moulder, 12 years with Anitec Image Corporation, Binghamton, NY, and 8 years with Walmart, Vestal, NY, retiring in 2006.  Lee loved gardening, hunting, WWE wrestling, and small engine repair.  He was always busy doing something.  He was the world’s greatest putterer.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassion and care, UHS Services, Dr. Bertini, Dr. Baron and staff, and to Barnes-Kasson Health Services.

A funeral service was held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA.  Spring interment will be made in Lakeview Cemetery.  Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the American Lung Association, Marywood University, 2300 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509.

Joel Christopher Thompson

Joel Christopher Thompson, 31, of New Milford, PA, passed away on January 22, 2014.  He is the loving son of Carol and the late William Thompson, Jr.

Joel is the devoted father of Kai Thompson; dear brother of William, Beth, Emily, and Christine; loving grandson of Caroline Thompson; caring uncle of Joseph and Jesse; and will also be greatly missed by numerous great aunts, uncles, and cousins.  In addition he is predeceased by his grandparents,  William Thompson, Sr. and Joan and Gene Patchell.

Joel loved the great outdoors, especially camping and fishing; and enjoyed working on motors or anything with wheels. He was willing to help anyone out where he could and always had a warm smile on his face.  Joel's greatest joy in life was Kai.

A funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc.  Interment will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
