Geraldine Morgan Lauer

Geraldine Morgan Lauer 80, of New Port Richey, Florida passed away on July 19, 2013 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Willard and Mabel (Holbrook) Westbook of Thompson, Pennsylvania. Geraldine worked the majority of her life in the restaurant industry. She waitressed, cooked, and bartended at restaurants and veterans clubs in Pennsylvania and Florida. She loved gardening, crafts, pinocle, playing tickets at the club, afternoon cocktails, and dancing to Old Time Rock and Roll. She was predeceased by her first husband Donald D. Morgan of Thompson, Pennsylvania and her second husband John D. Lauer of New Port Richey Florida, as well as her first great grandchild Morgan Patricia Klym.

She is survived by two daughters Mary Lou (Robert) Steinhart of Glen Gardner New Jersey and Lou Ann Decker of Susquehanna Pennsylvania, her six grandchildren Derrick and Cathy Klym of Naples Florida, Kristen Steinhart and Philip Marx of High Bridge New Jersey, Michael Decker and Marika Moore, Brian Decker, Julie Decker, Craig Decker and Danielle Moore all of Susquehanna Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her nine great grandchildren Samantha, Danielle, Kayla, Devon, Zack, D.J., Megan, Mackenzie, and Shane.

Geraldine will be missed by many loving friends .

There will be no service at her request. Burial will be at Gelatt Cemetery in Gelatt Pennsylvania at the convenience of the family.

William J. Mitchell

William J. Mitchell died at the age of 69 on July 22, 2013, following a courageously fought 3 ½ year battle against Multiple Myeloma cancer. His wife and two sons were in his presence when he passed. Bill was predeceased by his parents Robert and Margaret Mitchell, and his brother Thomas Mitchell.

He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 44 years Judy Mitchell, his sons Matthew Mitchell (wife Elissa), Scott Mitchell (wife Despina), five grandchildren (whom he adored), Mason, Connor, Caitlin, Maya & Lauren, his sister Helen Castronova (husband Joseph), brother Robert Mitchell (wife Betty), sister-in-law Christine Mitchell, sister-in-law Joanne Zick, sister-in-law Carol Zick (wife of the late Jim Zick), and many nieces and nephews whom he loved as if they were his own.

Bill was a loving & faithful husband, devoted father & grandfather and friend to all who knew him. His grand personality helped him achieve a successful 44 year career in sales at Inland Container.

An active member in the community, he served as president of the First Congregational Church of Harford church counsel for many years, he served on the board of the Maplewood Cemetery, a 4-H leader for 22 years & the recipient of the 2007 Cooperative Extension Award.

Amongst all of these great achievements, he was also well known for his fine wood crafting and fabrication skills, and general ability to fix just about anything. His workshop was a second home for him, where he created one of kind pieces for family and friends to be admired for generations to come.

Above all Bill had a genuine love of people. He valued other’s opinions and views and found himself at ease talking to just about anyone (friend or friend-to-be). It was this honest and noteworthy trait that led him to touch many hearts and lives.

A Celebration of Life service will be held September 7th at 4:00pm at the First Congregational Church of Harford PA.  A greeting time will be held from 1:00PM - 4:00PM, at the church, prior to the service. All are welcomed and encouraged to bring stories to share of this wonderful man who was loved by so many.

The family will provide flowers, in lieu thereof please make any contributions to the First Congregational– UCC Building Fund P.O. Box 217, Harford, PA 18823 or the Harford Volunteer Ambulance Service P.O. Box 206, Harford, PA 18823. Both of these community resources have provided unconditional support to the family throughout these difficult times.

CHARLES FREDERIC STILES, JR.

Charles Frederic Stiles, Jr, 91, of Great Bend, PA entered into rest on July 23, 2013. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Anna, in 2010. He is also predeceased by his son, Robert Stiles and a brother, George Stiles.

Fred is survived by two sons, Ronald and Lynn Stiles and Jim and Karen Stiles; three grandchildren, Michelle and Rob Montague, David Stiles and Malena, and Kate Stiles; one great grandchild, Bella Montague; a sister-in-law, Rita Lacey; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Fred was a proud veteran, serving with the US Army, Company B 157th Combat Engineers during World War II. He was a lifetime member of both the Musa Stiles V.F.W. Post #6223 and the American Legion Post #357. He was employed as a sheet metal fabricator or “tin knocker,” finishing off his career with Singer Link. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his vegetable garden, full of tomatoes and garlic. Fred was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and at 10:00 a.m. at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery, Great Bend, PA. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to Great Bend/Hallstead Volunteer Ambulance Service, Inc., P.O. Box 793, Great Bend, PA 18821 or to Woodlawn Cemetery Association, c/o Beverly Tierney, 477 Randolph Road, Great Bend, PA 18821.

Richard Dean Wheeler

Richard Dean Wheeler, 69, of State Route 171, Susquehanna, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Susquehanna, PA the son of the late Linus and Ruby Wheeler. He was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Alex and Marion Klym; two brothers John and Leon Wheeler; and two sisters Jean Gross and Josie Burdick.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Diane Wheeler, of Susquehanna, PA; one son Scott Wheeler, of Honesdale, PA; four daughters Nicole Wheeler and Jake Millard of Susquehanna, PA, Jennifer Wheeler and Jr. Westbrook of Montrose, PA, Amanda and Darren Roe, of Susquehanna, PA, and Alexis Wheeler of Susquehanna, PA; eight grandchildren, Josh Wheeler, Erin Millard, Andrea Westbrook, Mackenzie Roe, Leah Roe, Gabriel Morrison, Claragail Wheeler, and Kolby McGuire; two brothers Harold and Audrey Wheeler, of Susquehanna, PA, and Austin Wheeler of Susquehanna, PA; two sisters Mary Plutino of Susquehanna, PA, and Viola Allen of Johnson City, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard was a self- employed carpenter; working throughout Susquehanna County for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a member of the “Handy Man Club of America” and the “North American Fishing Club.” Richard was a loving and caring father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
