Margaret “Meg” Anderson

Margaret L. Anderson, 86, of Great Bend, PA, formerly of Susquehanna, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Wilson Memorial Hospital, in Johnson City, NY, after an illness.

Meg was predeceased by her first husband, Donald Conklin and second husband Thomas C. Anderson; and one brother William G. Thomas.

She is survived by her three daughters and son-in-laws Sherry and Gary VanVraken, Sally and Chip Hunt, and Amy and Patrick MacConnell, six grandchildren Bartt and Eileen Pinchuck, C.J., John and Tom Hunt, Paige and Gwen MacConnell; two great grandchildren Cole and Nolan Pinchuck; one sister-in-law Alyce Thomas; and many nieces and nephews.

Meg always had a wonderful sense of humor that was appreciated by her family especially in trying times. She was an avid reader and loved books. Most of all Meg loved her dogs and spending time with her family who will sorely miss her.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 1st 2013, at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna PA, with Rev. Anne Marie Meyerhoffer.

Burial held in the Evergreen Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susquehanna County Library.

DOROTHY M. DEMER

Dorothy M. Demer, 86, of Great Bend Township, PA was reunited with her late husband on May 28, 2013. John preceded her in death in September 2006. She was also predeceased by a brother, Emery Rose.

Dorothy is survived by three children, Joseph L. and Robin, Great Bend Township, PA, Patricia Button, Kingsley, PA, and Paul and Juli Demer, Wiersdale, FL; four granddaughters, Alicia and Andrew Hack, Amie Jo and Jason Yasnovitch, Sarah Beth Button, and Erika and Michael Poortenga; four great grandchildren, Anya and Dimitri Yasnovitch, Emily Poortenga, and Emma Hack; a sister-in-law, Barbara Nichols; an aunt, Berthena Green; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Dorothy and John were married for 52 years and owned and operated a dairy farm in Great Bend Township. She liked watching birds, and taking care of her flowers and plants. She was a devoted wife and mother, caring for her family and the farm.

A funeral service was held on May 31, 2013 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA. Interment will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to True Friends Animal Welfare Center, 16332 SR 706, Montrose, PA 18801.

Donald E. White

Donald E. White, age 56, of Hop Bottom, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Abington Manor in Clarks Summit.

Born January 23, 1957 in Scranton, he is the son of Elwood and Beverly Baker White of Hop Bottom. He attended the Kingsley Community Church and was employed as a computer draftsman at Karnel Inc. and also operated the Rock Creek Golf Course Cafe for several years.

Donald was a 1974 graduate of Mountain View High School and went on to graduate from the Johnson School of Technology where he earned a Draftsman and Design degree.

Donald battled adversity in his life, losing a leg while riding his tricycle in 1963 after being hit by a driverless runaway car and then fighting cancer for the last three years.

He loved the game of basketball but was unable to play competitively in school as a result of losing his leg, but he would make time to play basketball in his barn. After graduation, he was a strong and avid supporter of the Mountain View basketball team for over 25 years, being a scorekeeper and doing the coaches game books.

Donald is also survived by two brothers, Roger and Brian, both of Hop Bottom; two sisters, Kathy Clark and husband Mark of Hop Bottom and Carol George and husband John of Walton, N.Y., several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

Funeral services will Wednesday, June 5th at 11:00 a.m. in the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, 91 State Street, Nicholson with services by Pastor James Madas of the Kingsley Community Church.

Interment will be held in the Tower Cemetery in West Lenox.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 4th from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Traditional Home Health and Hospice.
