Esther L. Fickes

Esther L. Fickes, 76, of South Gibson, died Sunday evening at the Carbondale Nursing and Rehab Center, Carbondale.

Born in Utica, NY., she was the daughter of the late Daniel H. and Elfrieda M. (Williams) Fickes.

She received her education in nursing and was a registered nurse. She retired from the Binghamton Psychiatric Hospital, Binghamton, NY, where she had been employed as a psychiatric nurse for many years.
She is survived by one brother: William Fickes of Gibson Township, PA.; a niece and a nephew; 2 grand nieces.

As per Esther’s request she was cremated and no services were held.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford.

Deloris Verain Sherrod

Deloris Verain Sherrod died in her home in Susquehanna, PA on Tuesday, May 1, 2013 after a long illness. She was born on July 5, 1942 in Meadville, PA. and in 1946 relocated to Orange County, CA with her parents, the late Myron and Isabel Clark. She finally moved back here to PA with her husband for their retirement.

She graduated from San Diego State University with her Bachelors Degree in Anthropology. She taught at San Diego State College. She was born with an extraordinary psychic ability and also indulged herself in astrology to nurture her gift. Deloris did go on later to pursue Spiritual and Natural Healing which touched many lives through the years.

She was predeceased by her late husband, Donald E. Sherrod. She is survived by her son Richard Sherrod of Solon Pond, NY, her daughter Kimberley Stith of Susquehanna, PA, and her son Scott and Andrea Sherrod of Pasco, WA.; Grandchildren-Jenny Hollensbe, Timothy Stith, Lauren Sherrod, Chantal Stith, Vanda Leah Sherrod, Alyssa Sherrod, and her grandaughter Ciara Stith who at the end became her grandmother's caregiver along with her mother Kimberley Stith and her sister Joyce Dibble.

Surviving siblings-- sisters Grace Shirley of Grandpass, Or and Joyce Dibble of Susquehanna, PA. and adopted daughter, Shelley Rae Lyon of Freeville, NY.

Service was held at Hennessey's Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 with Reverand Jack Munley officiating. Following the service the family invites friends to their home on 27 Westfall Ave. in Oakland, PA for food and refreshments.

Kimberley and Deloris would like to give a special thank you to Home Health Care Professionals and Hospice, Office of the Aging and Dr. Francis Schell for their compassion and support during her time of illness.
