David Charles Ayers

David Charles Ayers, 71, of Goose Creek, S.C. formerly of the Susquehanna, Pa area passed away Wednesday February 20, 2013 after an illness.

David was born in Port Leyden, NY the son of the late Lionel & Charlotte (Taylor) Ayers.

He was predeceased by his wife Judith Ayers; grandson Adam; great granddaughter Cerrarra.

David is survived by his children David E. Ayers; Vanessa Grady; Thomas & Jackie Ayers; Suellen Swartwood and fiancée Arvey Dyke; Twila & Fred Stark; Florence Sylvester; Neil & Betty Jo Ayers; Kenneth Ayers and April Albro; Darcey Ayers and fiancée Todd Hill; brother LaVerne & Mary Jane Ayers; sisters Lily Buchanan; Charlene & Gary Shultz; 19 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was an auto mechanic for many years, a member of the Thompson Hose Co., an avid NASCAR race fan and loved country music. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, Pa. with Rev. Leanne Campbell officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 to 11am.

Erma M. Whitmore

Erma M. (Landis) Whitmore, 90, of Susquehanna, PA, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February, 26 2013, at the Forest City Nursing and Rehab Center.

Erma was born in Harleysville, PA to the late Samuel A. Landis and Lizzie Anders Moyer Landis.

She was predeceased by her husband Clifford, in 2009. Surviving is her brother, Paul Landis, of PA and his seven children.

Having received a Bachelor’s Degree from Millersville Teachers College and a Masters Degree from Middleburg College in VT, Erma taught school in Butler, NJ. She and Clifford moved to Susquehanna County in 1978. She enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife from her cozy home in Hickory Grove. An avid gardener, she was always willing to share her knowledge of the many flowers in her garden.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave. Susquehanna, PA.

Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, in the spring.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday, March 1, 2013, from 10 to 11am.

The family appreciates all that Mary Parks and her neighbors have done for Erma in the recent years.
