James Allen Canfield
James Allen Canfield, 51, of Factoryville passed away at his home Wednesday surrounded by his family.
James is the son of James E. and Gloria Fiske Canfield and was born on November 12, 1961 in Montrose. He married the former Carol Ann Pratt on July 28, 1984. James was employed at S&K Stone of Meshoppen as a truck driver. James enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and cutting wood.
In addition to his parents and wife, James is survived by a daughter Brandy Canfield, son Kevin Canfield and wife Jenny, son James Canfield Jr. and wife Katie, 7 grandchildren that were the light of his life, sister Kathleen Seamans, sister Cynthia Mirra and husband Tom, brother Dan Canfield and fiancé Joanie, sister Wanda Flemming, brother Paul Canfield and wife Maryanne, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday January 19, at 4pm at the South New Milford Baptist Church (Harford Road New Milford) with Pastor James Camacho officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 2pm to 4pm.. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Liberty Bank and Trust to the Carol Canfield Memorial Fund in honor of James A. ROGER L. KING
Roger L. King, 75, of New Milford, PA passed away peacefully on January 13, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kathleen.
He is also survived by his children, Ellen and Frans Baggerman, Binghamton, NY, Lee King, Stroudsburg, PA, Beth and Ed Myers, New Milford, PA; six grandchildren, Stephen, Sara, and Michael Baggerman, Adam, Chase, and Joshua Myers; a sister, Jane and Ted Hunt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James Craft, Janet and Raymond Holtzman, and Carol Douglas; best friends, Bill and Bonnie Brainard; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Elwyn and Belle Squier King, a sister, Mary Craft, and a brother, Bernard King.
Roger was employed with IBM for 34 years and a member of their Quarter Century Club. He was New Milford Township Supervisor for ten years and a Road Master for eight years. Roger was a veteran, serving with the Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of the Harford Lodge 0445 F. & A.M. for 54 years and also Binghamton Elks Lodge #70 for 12 years. Roger was a member of the First United Methodist Church, New Milford, PA. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, boater, and camper. He spent many summers at Sandy Pond and winters in Florida, where he loved to go shrimping with his late brother-in-law George. Roger was never afraid of a good joke or a great Pinochle game. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, “Baboo.”
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, lnc., Hallstead, PA. Interment will be made in Westside Cemetery, Brooklyn, PA. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Michael Martin Jr.
Michael Martin Jr., age 100, a 9 year resident of Bruce Township and formerly from New Milford and Susquehanna, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Beaumont Hospital, Troy. Michael was born January 25, 1912 in PA, the son Michael Sr. and Mary (Soley) Martin. Michael attended many schools, including the Conservatory of Music and Lacawanna Business College. He holds degrees from Westchester University, Bucknell University, and Syracuse University. After graduation, he worked in New Milford, PA as a teacher and coach. He retired from the Susquehanna Community Schools as its Principal in 1975. Michael had a full and interesting life. He was gifted musically and played with his own orchestra called “Mikey Martin’s Orchestra” during the 1930’s. He then met the love of his life and married the former Eileen Fernane on July 12, 1941 at St. John Catholic Church in New Milford, PA.
Michael proudly served his country during WW II in the Army and served many service groups during his lifetime, including the Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club, local VFW and the Lions Club, all while living in Pennsylvania. During his college days, he was a gifted gymnast. After retirement, he was an avid oil painter.
Michael is survived by his wife of 71 years Eileen, children: Kathleen (Don) Edwards of Romeo and Michael (Diane) Martin of Rhode Island. Also survived by grandchildren Alycia & Robert Starr, Amy (Stephen) Dressler, Michael Christopher Martin, Lisa ( Mark) Schirmer, and Bryan and Donald Edwards. His sister Marian Marshall of Florida survives along with 14 great grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, along with siblings George, Helen Pagano, and Anna Mae Guinane.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 5 at St Clement Catholic Church of Romeo with Fr. John (Fr. Doc) Ortmann officiating with burial to follow in the Romeo Cemetery. Arrangements by the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo Michigan.
Robert G. Whitney
Robert G. Whitney of Thompson went to his reward to be with Jesus on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
His wife, Marjorie Coons Whitney of 50 years survives him. Robert is also survived by one son and wife, John (Carrie) Whitney, of Susquehanna, PA; one daughter, Diane Whitney, of Thompson, PA; one granddaughter, Amanda whom he loved very much and was his little cutie, two sisters and brother-in-law, Alice Potter, of Susquehanna, Jean (Kenneth) Richard, of Woodbury, CT; two brothers and sister-in-law Leon (Linda) Whitney, of Spring Hill, FL, and Donald (Linda) Whitney, Hampton, VA; brother-in-law Brad Smith, of Blue Bell, PA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Robert was predeceased by a sister Helen Smith.
Robert, the son of the late Perry and Edith Stockwell Whitney, was born August 8, 1929 and lived in Thompson, PA, all his life. He worked on the family farm for 10 years after graduation from Thompson High School in 1947. He worked at E.H. Titchener in Binghamton, NY for 36 years and retired in 1992. He was a member of the Thompson United Methodist Church for 69 years serving as a Trustee and Usher, and a member of the Thompson Hose Co. Bob traveled from Fairbanks, Alaska to Key West Florida-Crescent City California to Maine, parts of 46 states of the United States and Canada. He built his cabin, his boat named the Hobo, garage and house. Bob will be missed by all that knew him.
Thank you to the doctors and nurses at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA, Upper Delaware Valley Cancer Center in Milford, PA, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Wilkes-Barre, PA for the compassionate care.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Thompson United Methodist Church, Thompson, PA with Rev. Lloyd Canfield officiating.
Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery in the spring.
