The next meeting of the Mountain View Garden Club will be held on Tuesday, November 20 at 7:00 at the Clifford Fire Hall. Nina Reudemann from Jeffers Farms will do a presentation on wreath making followed by a general meeting. Bring a wire wreath frame, wire cutters and ribbon.
The annual Holiday Party will be held on Wednesday, December 12 at Stone Bridge Inn & Restaurant at 6:30.
The Susquehanna Branch of the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) will hold its annual open meeting for the public and members on November 10th. The event will start at 7pm at the Central Conservation Club building, near South Montrose, with short talks from PGC law enforcement; PGC habitat improvement crew; QDMA on chestnut tree planting and more.
Find out what habitat work is being done on the State Game Lands from two local members (Darren Pettyjohn and Bill Stepniak III) of the PGC Food and Cover Corps.
QDMA Branch Board of Director member Matt Sellers will talk about the branch’s efforts, in cooperation with RealTree Nurseries, to help restore Dunstan (American) chestnuts to our area. Chestnut trees are prolific nut producers and wildlife really go for them.
The third short talk is about sportsmanship and new rules about deer hunting by the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) Game Protectors from our area.
A special presentation to the Game Protectors from - QDMA, Finch Hill Rod & Gun Club, Canawacta Rod & Gun Club, PA. Trappers District #9, Hallstead-Great Bend Rod & Gun Club and the South Gibson Conservation Club.
A fun talk by QDMA Board of Director members Mike Koneski and Rusty Ely about their most recent bear hunt in Maine at former South Montrose resident Steve Lake’s hunting lodge.
Light refreshments (finger food) and drinks will be supplied throughout the event by the branch along with free information. Special QDMA publications and memberships will be available to purchase.
