Fisheries Sampling Demonstration Set

Fisheries biologists from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission invite you to a demonstration of catfish sampling methods at Lackawanna State Park Lake on Wednesday, September 19th at 1:00 p.m. This work is part of a scheduled catfish survey on the lake and provides a great opportunity to observe agency staff in action or to learn more about catfish and other fish species in the lake.

Biologists will be on hand to explain the catfish netting survey process, tools of the trade and to provide life history information on fish species caught during the demonstration. Area Fisheries Manager Rob Wnuk will be available for interviews and to answer questions before, during and after the demonstration. Pleasant Mount Hatchery staff will be available to answer questions about catfish production and stocking. They will also have a few large live catfish on display. Outreach staff will provide a small tabletop display and be available to distribute publications or answer general questions about the agency.

The meeting site will be the main boat launch area off of route 407 at Lackawanna State Park. The park is easily reached from I-81. Take Exit 199 and travel three miles west on PA 524. Visitors coming via Route 6 and 11 should take PA 438 east about three miles and then head south on PA 407.
