Are you confused about Medicare or unsure of the decisions that you will have to make? The Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Tioga Counties Area Agency on Aging will be hosting “New to Medicare” informational sessions during the month of September.
The first session will be held at the Montrose Bible Conference, Dreyer Lodge, 218 Locust Street, Montrose, on Thursday, September 8 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be available.
The second session will take place on September 22 at the Blue Ridge Senior Center, 85 Elizabeth Street (Borough Building), Great Bend at 12:30 p.m. Individuals interested in reserving a noon time meal at the senior center should contact the senior center one day in advance at 570-879-2896.
Topics will include Medicare enrollment dates, details on coverage provided by Medicare A and B, Medicare D drug coverage, Medigap Plans, Advantage Plans, PACE and PACE Net prescription drug coverage as well as eligibility programs available to help reduce the costs of prescription drugs and health care costs. This is an interactive session with all questions welcome. Through these training sessions, the Area Agency on Aging hopes to assist individuals in making a smooth transition into the Medicare system.
AAA trained staff and volunteers are available to meet with Medicare beneficiaries for private counseling sessions at the Area Agency on Aging offices located in Towanda, Montrose and Wellsboro. The Area Agency on Again is dedicated to serving the public, regardless of age in resolving health insurance issues.
Individuals interested in becoming an Apprise volunteer to conduct health insurance counseling are encouraged to contact Marcella Yasharian, Apprise Coordinator, at 1-800-982-4346. The AAA provides training building on the skill set of each volunteer.
