IRENE HELEN SKARITZA

Irene Helen Skaritza, 97, of Great Bend, PA, passed away on July 24, 2010, peacefully, thanks to the loving care provided by Barnes-Kasson S.N.F. Irene was born on June 9, 1913 to her late parents, Susan and Antono Dkaritza. She was predeceased by all her siblings: brothers, Joe, Louis, Ferdy, and Paul Skaritza, as well as her sister, Mary Tarapata.

Irene started working at age 16 in a perfume factory and retired after 35 years of employment at GAF. In her retirement, she loved to walk and watch birds. She especially enjoyed visiting with so many of her kind friends.

A memorial service will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Great Bend, PA at a later date.

VICKY LYNN PAGE

Vicky Lynn Page, 49 of Great Bend Township, PA passed away July 22, 2010 as a result of a car accident. She is survived by her companion Greg Grover.

Also surviving is her father Don and Joyce Page; a sister, Jody Hall; a beloved niece, Tiffany and Ryan Parry; a great niece, Olivia Page Parry; a step-brother, Brian Thomas and Tom and Cindy Mirra; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and a companion dog, Bronson. She was predeceased by her mother and sister.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, PA.

WANDA PLEW MICHAEL

Wanda Plew Michael, 93, of Lenox and Montrose, PA, went into the welcoming arms of her Lord and Savior on July 16, 2010. Born in Susquehanna, PA, the youngest daughter of Ralph and Geneva Spoor Plew, Wanda graduated from the Susquehanna school system and, before her marriage, worked at the Haynes Department Store. She married Chester Michael of Lenox on September 16, 1939 and faithfully cared for him, especially during his last years of illness. He succumbed in 1998.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Lloyd and Barbara Michael of Houston and Nacogdoches, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Donald Cunningham of Montrose, PA. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Kimberly and husband Don Giallanza of Houston, Texas, Dr. Courtney A. Cunningham of Tunkhannock, PA and Donnie Cunningham of Montrose, PA. Kelsey and Kara Giallanza of Houston, Texas are her great granddaughters. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was predeceased by infant twins, Roger and Ralph Michael. She was the last surviving family member of sisters and brothers in both the Plew and Michael families (Edith and Walter Griffin, Minnie and Kendall Stanford, Maxey Michael, Bob and Ileta Michael, Rachael and Howard Price, and George and Pearl Michael).

Wanda was, until recently, an active member of the West Lenox Baptist Church, having taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, active in the Ladies Aid Society and serving at dinners. Wanda was a faithful "prayer warrior" to her family and friends, remembering them in daily prayers.

Her sewing, tatting and knitting abilities were widely known in the area. Many of her designs won awards at the Harford Fair; others were given to family and friends as "gifts of comfort and love." Wanda was known as a kind and compassionate person who attempted to give joy to others which, many times meant receiving her famous fudge,, cinnamon rolls and pie.

In respect for her wishes, all arrangements are private. Flowers will be provided by the family.

Donations in celebration of her life may be made to the West Lenox Baptist Church, WPEL Radio or the Montrose Bible Conference.

NICHOLAS PAPALEXANDROU

Nicholas Papalexandrou, 87, of Susquehanna, PA passed away on July 18, 2010 at home. He is survived by his loving wife of fourteen years, Anne.

Also surviving are his children, Alex, Stella, and George; step-children, Stanley, John, and Katherine; and several grandchildren and step grandchildren.

Nick worked for the New York State Carpenter's Union. He was born in Greece.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, PA.

MILDRED L. PATRILLO

Mildred L. Patrillo, 89, of Susquehanna, PA, passed away on Monday July 19, 2010, at the Barnes Kasson Hospital SNF, after an illness.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Albert “Cy” Patrillo; one son Albert John Patrillo; daughter-in-law, Martha J. Patrillo; and two brothers Leo and Ray Cordner.

Mildred was survived by her two sons and a daughter-in-law Vincent J. Patrillo, and Anthony and Mary Patrillo; four grandchildren, Steven V. Patrillo, James M. Patrillo, Scott Patrillo, and Gina Jenks; three great grandchildren Kendra, Jacob, and Alexis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mildred was a member of the St. John’s Church in Susquehanna, PA.

There was a funeral service held at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, PA, on Thursday, July 22, 2010, with Rev. Cramer officiating.

Burial was in the St. John’s Cemetery, in Susquehanna, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #86 of Susquehanna, PA.

The family would like to thank the Barnes Kasson Hospital SNF for their excellent care of Mildred.
