WILSON “BILL” A. ROE

Wilson “Bill” A. Roe, 92, of Brookdale, PA passed away October 30, 2009 in Binghamton, NY. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy Roe in January 2000.

Bill is survived by two children, Robert “Bob” W. and Alice Roe, Forest Lake, PA, and Sharon “Sherri” Hinkley, Kirkwood, NY; three grandchildren, Craig and Kyra Roe, Jodi and Paul Salamida, and Tonya Roe and Mike Furman; four great grandchildren, Caleb Roe, Nicole Furman, Brittni Furman, and Dominick Salamida; a brother, Floyd and Esther Roe; a sister, Bertha Roys; a brother-in-law, Carlyle Luce; several nieces and nephews; and a special family mention, Michelle Warner. He was predeceased by three sisters, Martha Leonard, Dorothy Luce, and Alice Roe.

Bill was a member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses, Montrose, PA. He was employed with Columbia Gas for forty years. Bill was passionate about his farm and in April 2007 his farm was designated a Pennsylvania Century Farm. He owned Roe’s D&W Market in Riverside. Bill was an active member in the community. He helped to organize the Snake Creek Volunteer Fire Company in 1954. He was recognized as an honorary lifetime member of the Liberty Township Planning Commission. He also assisted in the organization of the Brookdale Cemetery Association.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, PA. Interment will be made in the Brookdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 on Tuesday.
