Obituaries

LETITIA E. SCHROEDER

Letitia E. Schroeder, 88, of Jackson, PA passed away, Monday, September 1, 2008 at her home. Born June 29, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Herman and Letitia (Davidson) Kornbau. Her husband Willard F. Schroeder predeceased her in 1994.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Montrose where she served on the session.

She was involved in many community theatre organizations, BPW, Eastern Star Sunshine Chapter #258 and also was involved in the Junior League.

She received the Life Time Achievement Award of Northeast PA for her community theatre involvement. Letitia was on the local school board in Haworth, NJ and a board member of the Geneva House of the Presbyterian Homes, Inc.

Survivors include daughters, Beverly Schroeder Mellick, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, E. Susan Schroeder, New York, NY, Virginia L. Schroeder, New York, NY; grandson, William H. Mellick III; granddaughter, Carolyn Schroeder Mellick; and nephew, Charles Willard Schroeder.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Laura Webb Mellick in 1981.

Services were held on Friday at the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose.

Arrangements were made by the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose.

JANICE E. NEWMAN

Janice E. Newman, 44, of Colesville, NY passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008.

She was predeceased by her father, Lynn Newman.

Janice is survived by her fiancee, Robert DeLaney; her mother and stepfather, Joyce and Jesse Hilton, Hallstead, PA; uncle, Merle Newman, Great Bend, PA.

Janice was a registered nurse for over 18 years at the Broome Developmental Center.

Funeral Services will be private.

Memorial contributions in Janice's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 07123.

Arrangements for the family are directed by the DeMunn Funeral Home.

GARY M. DAVIS

Gary M. Davis, 51, of Hallstead, PA went to be with his Lord and Savior unexpectedly on September 7, 2008.

Gary is survived by his loving fiancé, Cindy Saddlemire; three children, Paul Michael Davis, Binghamton, NY, Melinda S. Davis, Ohio, Sean Michael Davis, Hallstead, PA; his mother, Margaret Birtch, Hallstead, PA; siblings, David Davis, Wendy Mastenbrook and husband Bob, John Davis, James Davis, Cheryl Handsom and husband Donald, Randy Barnhart; special cousins, Rick, Brenda, and Joshua Frayer; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, John A. Davis, his step-father, Donald G. Birtch, and a cousin, Donald Davis.

Gary was a loving, devoted man who will be missed by all. He was a fan of dirt track and NASCAR racing. He was employed by Johnson Outdoor Camping, and worked in the automotive retail field for 20 years. Gary always looked out for his mom; he was her best friend.

A funeral service will be held at the Tuttle-Yeisley funeral home on Wednesday, September 10, at 11 a.m., with Reverend Jude Park officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the charity of their choice.
