GUSTAV JACOB ERAT

Gustav Jacob Erat, 95, formerly of Kingsley, PA, passed away, July 2, 2008, in Stewartstown, PA, at the home of his niece, Cathy Nathewitch. He was the son of the late George and Catherine Erat.

Gustav is survived by two daughters, Susan Birtch and Joanne Walker; a son, Jeffrey Erat; a sister, Lillian Vorozilchak; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Frederick A. Erat; a great-granddaughter, Tiffany Erat; four brothers; seven sisters.

Gustav was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Hop Bottom, PA. He was a brakeman for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, Baltimore MD, from 1941 until 1975. He retired to Susquehanna County and enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. A great joy in his life was the love he had for little children.

A funeral service was held at Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, PA, on Monday, July 7 with the Reverend Kim Bode officiating. Interment, Maplewood Cemetery, Kingsley, PA.

Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Hop Bottom, PA.

FRANCIS JAMES GLOVER

Francis J. Glover, 84, of Potter Hill Road, Susquehanna, PA, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 5, 2008, after an illness.

He was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Dora (Mead) Glover; brother, Maynard Glover; and sister, Pauline Stone.

Francis is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, R. Lydabel (Nelson) Glover; two daughters, Bonnie Smith, Susquehanna, PA, Ruthann Burkhalter, Eenore, SC; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and Jeffrey Wheeler, who he was a mentor to.

He owned and operated the Glover Suffolks Farm in Thompson Township, where he raised sheep for many years, and also worked for over 25 years at the Starrucca Post Office as a rural carrier.

Francis was a  member of the Starrucca Baptist Church, Starrucca, PA; Freedom Lodge #328, Thompson, PA; and was previously on the Board of the Harford Fair.

The family will hold a private memorial service at their convenience.

Memorial donations may be made to the Thompson Fire Department, Thompson, PA in memory of Francis.

Memorial Service

In loving memory of Sarah G. Lord, there will be a memorial service on Friday, July 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Community Church, Great Bend, PA.  Although appreciated, flowers and cards aren’t necessary.  Please make memorial donations to Mid-Valley Hospital, Hospice Center, 1400 Main Street, Peckville, PA 18452.  We thank you for all you generous donations, prayers, and love.
