Mt. View Garden Club Update
Submitted By Dawn Howell

The Mountain View Garden Club met on April 15 at the Clifford Fire Hall. Wendy Seymour from Burdick Creek Gardens, primarily a garlic farm, was the speaker. She told of the health benefits from using garlic in our cooking and also about how to grow it.

The May 20 meeting will also be held at the Clifford Fire Hall and the program will be by Penn State Master Gardener, Donna Zagrapan. The topic to be discussed will be conservation of rain water using rain barrels, landscaping and rain gardens. This meeting is open to the public and we hope to see some new faces. Start time is 7 p.m.

Last but not least is our fourth annual Plant Exchange/Sale and Marketplace. The time and date of the event is Sunday, June 1, 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. It will be held at Bell Mountain Farm between Clifford and Tompkinsville. There will be signs or call for directions Donna at 281-3335 or JoAnn at 222-3591. This year we’re changing the name to Plant Exchange and Marketplace to better describe the event. You can bring a plant or two to exchange for perennials grown by garden club members and other gardeners from the area. Or, just come and peruse the plants and other goodies we'll have for sale. This year, Rob Rave from Rave Landscaping, Inc. will be giving garden tours and sharing insight on the many plants you'll see in this truly beautiful garden.

Summer Series Begins At Historic St. Paul's
Submitted

Summertime swells the number of vacationers, family visitors, and tourists coming to Susquehanna County. As a result, our community resources are richer than ever and it is for this reason that historic St. Paul's Episcopal Church is preparing a series of events entitled "Spirit of Summer" to share with everyone the joys of living in this beautiful setting.

Operatic tenor Paul Spencer Adkins, winner in the first Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition, will join with the congregation to inaugurate the series on May 25 at 9:00 a.m. All are welcome to participate in this celebration of song.

Later events will include a Celtic Dinner, an Ice Cream Social in the garden, a Summer Music Camp, lecture tours of the buildings, and more.

Keep posted by visiting www.stpaulschurchmontrose.org.

For more information call 278-2954.
