Obituaries

JOHN A. WESCOTT

John A. Wescott, 75, Susquehanna, PA, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the Barnes-Kasson Hospital after an illness.

He was predeceased by his mother, Pearl Carl of Susquehanna and his father, Forrest Wescott of Hallstead; two brothers, Elroy Wescott and Willard Wescott of Susquehanna.

John is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jane Kiely, Fairport, NY, Jeanette and Jim Lowe, Acton, MA, Lorraine and Clint Leet, Honesdale, PA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Wescott, Hallstead, PA, Michael and Mary Wescott, Susquehanna; six grandchildren, Doug, Jessica, Chris, Jeremy, Casi and Kaylee; two dear friends, Mason Evans and Sue Lynch; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

John attended school at the Laurel Hill Academy, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an airplane mechanic until 1953, then owned and operated JW Body Shop until 1979, then retired from PennDOT after 15 years, and finally he operated Wescott’s Small Engine. John was an avid fisherman and inventor. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #86.

The funeral service was held at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna, on Tuesday, March 25.
