Blue Ridge Celebrates Read Across America

Blue Ridge Elementary celebrated Read Across America on Monday, March 3. The book, “Horton Hears a Who” was read at all grade levels. In honor of the book’s main character, Horton, students enjoyed a treat of elephant ears, created from fried pastry, at lunchtime. To culminate the day, celebrating Dr. Seuss, the video of “Horton Hears a Who” was shown in the school’s theater for all students to enjoy. The PTO generously provided copies of the book, “Horton Hears a Who” for each grade level as well as a lunchtime treat. The activity gave the students and teachers the opportunity to participate in a program that encourages children all over the country to celebrate the joy of reading.
