Cohen Continues Forensic Success Elk Lake seventh grader Austin Cohen continued his domination of JV Lincoln-Douglas Debate at the Scranton Catholic Forensics League Tournament at Dallas High School on February 2. Cohen once again compiled an undefeated, 4 win and 0 loss record by defeating debaters from Abington Heights, Dallas, Wallenpaupack, and Shikellamy High Schools. There was no final in JV LD Debate and, consequently, Cohen was declared the JV LD Debate Champion. As a result of his finish, Cohen built his JV record, against freshmen and sophomores, to an amazing 21 wins and 5 losses. “This was another solid performance from Austin. It was a great way to wrap up his JV career,” commented EL Forensics Director Keith Brosious. The team would next travel to suburban Pittsburgh to compete at the Bethel Park Invitational Tournament on February 8 to wrap up their regular competition season.
Kasey Lynch Graduates Kutztown University Kutztown University of Pennsylvania conferred 661 degrees at its winter commencement ceremony on December 15, 2007. Graduates included Kasey K. Lynch, of New Milford, who earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.
Local Students On LCCC Dean’s List Luzerne County Community College announced the names of students who have earned recognition for outstanding academic achievement during the fall, 2007 semester. To qualify for the President’s List, a student must earn a 4.0 cumulative grade point average. Students who attain a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.99 are included on the Dean’s List, and those with an average between 3.25 and 3.49 are included on the Honors List. Local Students On U of S Dean’s List The University of Scranton has announced its Dean’s List, which recognizes students for academic excellence during the 2007 fall semester. Local Students On S U Dean’s List The Shippensburg University Dean's List is published at the end of each semester. It is an honor roll of full-time students who have achieved academic excellence as evidenced by earning a semester Quality Point Average of 3.30 or better, or part-time students who have earned a Quality Point Average of 3.30 or better in the last 15 or more consecutive credits.
