Health & Wellness Fund For Choconut Elementary

A family from the Choconut area who wishes to remain anonymous recently established the Choconut Valley Elementary School Wellness Fund with The Community Foundation of Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties. This new fund is intended to support programs and initiatives deemed appropriate by the school principal that will enhance the health and well-being of the students; such as equipment for the playground or gym class, assemblies and guest speakers that promote wellness, or curricular material for use in classrooms that promotes healthy lifestyles.

In a statement to The Community Foundation, the family who established this fund commented, “Children are learning many wonderful things in school which they will use for the rest of their lives. It is our hope that they will also learn how important are good health and wellness, and that they will develop good habits early in life. Our dream is that the children will get the profit of good health for the rest of their lives.”

This anonymous family has shown genuine care and generosity toward local students by establishing this fund, and other friends of the Choconut Elementary School can join in this valuable initiative by making tax-deductible donations to the fund and thus increasing the ability of the school to encourage healthy habits in its students. Contributions may be sent directly to The Community Foundation, 36 Lake Avenue, Montrose, 18801. Visit the Foundation’s website at www.community-foundation.org for information about this and other projects benefiting our region.
