GENE E. WHITE

Gene E. White, 59, Great Bend, PA, passed away December 10, 2006, in Susquehanna, PA.

He was predeceased by his mother, Doris Gumaer; his father, Fred (Pat) White; stepmother, Pauline White.

Gene is survived by his children, Lawrence R. White, James M. White and companion Karen, Robyn Dolaway and husband Mike; a stepfather, Lynn Gumaer; siblings, Terry White and companion Iva Gaylord, Jack and Jeannie White, Bonne and Joe Travis, Stanley Gumaer and companion Jan Nowicki; ten grandchildren, Tyler, Austin and Olivia White, Alexandrea White, Benjamin, Karly and Thomas Gudykunst, Paige, Austin and Carter Dolaway.

Before Gene’s disabling head injury on October 7, 1993, he was a laborer, stone cutter and carpenter.

A memorial service was held at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Hallstead, on Friday, December 15, with Pastor Donald Littleton officiating.

 

SARA E. YOUNG

Sara E. Young, 97, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006.

She was a former resident of Dumont, NJ for 65 years and a resident of Montville, NJ, since 2003.

She was secretary to the principal of Lincoln School for 19 1/2 years.

Sara was a remarkable woman of strength who enjoyed conversation, treasured reading all types of books, and spending weekends in Pennsylvania.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles in 1984; her brothers, George and Jim Wolfe; a sister, Julie Berman; her son, George L., who died in 1994.

Survivors include her loving children, Donald S. and wife Shirley, Windham, NH, Patricia A. and husband Gary, Mancos, CO, John C. and wife Karen, Towaco, NJ, Charles F. “Chuck” and wife Kathy, Susquehanna.

She also leaves 16 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

As was her wish, cremation has been private and a service will be held at the South New Milford Baptist Church, PA, and interment in Maple Ridge Cemetery, Brushville, PA, at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations in her memory to the NJ Foundation of The Blind, P.O. Box 929, Denville, NJ 07834 would be greatly appreciated.

EUNA JUNE TRAVIS

7/8/1926 – 12/13/2006

Euna June (Downs) Travis, Show Low, AZ, joined her Heavenly Father on December 13, 2006. She departed from home leaving her husband, Jack Duane Travis, Sr., behind.

She was the daughter of Joseph and Emma Downs (deceased). Euna was also predeceased by her brothers, Jack Downs and Francis Downs; oldest son, Jack Duane Travis, Jr.; and grandson, Dustin Alan Vedo.

Her remaining children are Terry Jo and Marty Johnson, Hallstead, PA, Judy Jane and Paul Vedo, Flagstaff, AZ, Timothy Wade and Francis Travis, Part Low, VA, Jeff Alan Travis, Brackney, PA, Amy Jean and Ken Burke, Lakeside, AZ, Brenda Lee and Chris Crismon, Lake Havasu City, AZ. Also mourning her loss are her brothers and sisters, Dorothy and James Cromwell, Binghamton, NY, James and Marjorie Downs, Vestal, NY, Norma Tagliaferro, Endwell, NY, Karen and Matthew Murphy, Columbia, SC, Britt and Marilyn Downs, Lexington, MN. She leaves a legacy of 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

While living in PA, Euna worked faithfully at the Montrose Dept. Store for many years. A couple of those years were spent running the New Milford branch. You may have also known her as your Avon Rep. She and Jack opened their home to many foster children before selling the farm and moving to Arizona. Over the last 20-some years, Euna has tirelessly used her sewing talent to reach out to ministries in her church and the Navapache Hospital in Show Low.

Her family will miss her dearly and look forward to joining her again some day.

A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
