1st Lt. Adam Joyce Reports For Duty

Air Force 1st Lt. Adam T. Joyce has arrived for duty at Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, Florida. Adam is a student pilot, assigned to the 95th Fighter Squadron.

Adam is the son of Thomas M. Joyce of Pittston Township, PA, and Robyn W. Pennay, Kingsley, PA. He graduated in 2000 from Pittston Area High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2004 from Duke University, Durham, NC.

Amn. James Birtch Graduates Basic

Air Force Airman James J. Birtch has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

James is the son of Maurice and stepson of Pam Birtch of Montrose, PA. His mother, Angela Birtch, also resides in, Montrose. He is a 2006 graduate of Montrose Area High School.

Pfc. Richard Oakley Graduates Basic

Army Pfc. Richard L. Oakley has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Richard is the son of Barbara Scofield of Rural Route 1, Nicholson, PA. He is a 2006 graduate of Mountain View Junior-Senior High School.
