Hwang Scholarship Created

The David Hwang Memorial Scholarship was recently established at the Blue Ridge School District Foundation, which is an Affiliate of The Community Foundation of Susquehanna & Wyoming Counties.

Pictured (l-r) are: Peter Quigg, Director of Development, Community Foundation, and Robert McNamara, Superintendent, Blue Ridge School District.

David was a Blue Ridge High School student when he was killed in a car accident in the late 1980s. His family created this scholarship in his memory and it has been transferred to The Foundation to be managed locally. This scholarship will provide annual awards to a male student and a female student who exhibit high moral character, participate in interscholastic sports, and will continue their education at a post-secondary school program. The awards for 2007 graduates are expected to be $800.00 each, with the value of the award increasing yearly. School District Superintendent, Robert McNamara is very pleased that this scholarship has returned to its local roots and is gratified that the annual award will continue to develop and provide permanent assistance to graduates of Blue Ridge High School.
